Hey Friends-

I installed a turn-off-road B Brace this weekend and its been amazing. My Bronco has a little north of 60K on it, and It has been banged about off-road so it was starting make more rattles and squeaks than before. I was chasing some wicked rattle in my doors and windows on anything rougher than completely smooth pavement.

The kit itself was a super easy install- Like 6 bolts, but it was an immediate night and day difference. It was like magic- much less noise, not squeaking on bumps, much less chatter on washboard at speed. Totally awesome. Well made and packed too. Didn't feel flimsy at all- I am pretty sure its stout enough that I could walk across this on the Bronco, but I'm not sure why I would want to.

I don't really plan on doing much with the Molle bit- I don't like a lot of junk hanging around in my truck, but its there if you want to do that. I did relocate the external speaker for my GMRS up to it behind the driver seat so I can hear it better and get it off the dash.

Three weird ordering things-
1) For whatever reason, this kit was not available in the Turn-off-Road section on the BN store, so I had to order from the standard website. Not a big deal to me, but FYI I guess
2) It was listed as out of stock and in production, but It shipped immediately and was to me in just a couple days. I am not going to complain about quick shipping, but I guess I wouldn't 100% trust a delay listing on the website.
3) Turn has two different versions on their site- The one I ordered that is just a B Brace, and they also have one that comes with the B Brace and a molle panel that runs between the brace and the windscreen. Both are listed for the same price, and they sent me the one with the extra molle. I don't think I will put that bit in, but it was cool to see a company going the extra mile on that.

On the whole though- Super great kit and install. Also the first bit from Turn-off-road I have installed and it was a well made piece. I really like the design of their tailgate brace, and now I feel pretty confident that I should order it.

I will snap some photos and get them uploaded.

Great post; I didn't know they had a brace. That's awesome it worked so well. I hear that they've been so popular lately that bumpers and such are backordered, so that's cool you got it fast. They've been good about offering discounts proactively when there's been shipping delays, and I like that they are involved with the community, going to events and hanging out with other owners.

(also, I'll tell the store portion of the team BN doesn't have it listed)

I have consistently been impressed with Turn. They have been active on the boards in a way others have not, have been upfront with folks about problems, and have a good rep for customer service. We cant have enough good folks like that in the community.

I agree!
And I love their free shipping. I know not everyone can do it (BN can't 😭), but it's a great touch.

I see on the site it is compatible with soft tops. Do you have a soft top? I want to know if it help any with soft top noise.

I run a four door softee.

Part of the reason I wanted to try the brace was the window/door chatter, and the brace did that. I really cut down on random squeaks, groans and rattles. I don't know how much if any these groans and chatter are related to the soft top, the longer run on the 4 door cage, the milage, or me have a history of being a yahoo with the truck, but the brace really cut down those noises.

Now, I do get a lot of wind-noise at highway speed from the soft-top though and the brace wont fix that. The best solution I have for that is just to take the soft top off, and run a bikini top- If I am going to have the noise, I want to enjoy the ventilation. In the winter though, thats not for me 😊.

What I did do that made a huge difference at interstate speeds with the soft top on-
1) I put my bikini top on under the soft top.
2) I put a moving blanket on top of the bikini top
3) I put a foam mattress topper on top of that
4) I brought the blanket edges up on top of the whole thing so it was all nice and even to the roll bar frame perimeter and closed the soft top over the whole shebang. I needed to tuck in some material over the rear part of the roll bar so it was not hanging down in back, but no big deal at all.

I found this greatly reduced the noise at speed in the truck. I think the soft top (as ford makes it anyway) is way too slack and is just a magnet for wind noise. My janky-blankie set up cuts a lot of that down, and right now when I am not opening and closing the top, it works well. This is essentially the homebrew version of the old dirty dog headliner since they have gone out of business. I already had the bikini top and the moving blanket, so I think I was out like $10 for the foam. I have read this helped other folks with temperature insulation too, but I have never found that to be too much of a problem with the Bronco where I lived, so I cant speak to that.

We drove to Zion NP over the Christmas break (about 8 hours) and the wind noise was not loud in the truck (certainly not like before). I wouldn't expect G-wagon level sound reduction, but I didn't get out of the truck and have my ears ringing, and I could have normal conversations and listen to music at a reasonable level.
