Turbo lag question

I drove a 2.7l big bend at the dealership when it first landed to see if I wanted to place an order.. my biggest observation was the long turbo lag… power was fine when the lag delay had passed… any ideas on modding that without exceeding the limits?

you can tune a guitar but can't tune a fish

All turbos have lag thats a fact.

Modding? swap in a V-8. :p

The problem is anything you do to reduce lag will chop top end.

My raptor does not have that much turbo lag so I disagree that the amount of lag present in the 2.7 is not addressable… there will always be lag but vane design in the turbo or exhaust regulation can be varied to decrease lag without increasing boost

Try Sport mode... it (should) tune the computer to spin up the turbo faster.

But ultimately it is not really a performance turbo setup... it's mostly there for fuel economy (hence the "Eco" in EcoBoost). The Sport mode will probably help, but ultimately it may not be as responsive as the Raptor, as the Raptor is obviously intended and tuned to be a performance truck.

I noticed the same thing. Was it the sasquatch by chance? I have a 2.7 in my f150 and love it. When i drove a 2.7 sas i was underwhelmed. It was like the motor was holding back so you dont rip the wheels off. I ended up buying the 2.3 sas and i think its way better off the line than the 2.7

agreed but the amount of lag seems excessive.....I have a 2.0 ecoboost in my fusion and don't experience near as much lag. It's set up for economy, not a sporty vehicle at all.....It may have been a dealer tunedown so people don't abuse it...I hope the actual production vehicle exhibits better engine performance

I would check with other owners who have taken delivery of theirs. Check to see if there have been any changes in performance from delivery to post break in? I remember posts regarding this but not sure of which threads they posted in
