Truth about 4WP Bronco.

First off do like the 4WP Bronco and the styling. When i ordered the whole front end set up ($3K + worth of items) I was impressed with the bumper, winch mount, winch and accessories and the build quality. until i got to the skid plate. well. the skid plate you will be buying is NOT the one on the Bronco. It is 3"shy of meeting the bumper, leaving a gap for items to get into. FYI the intercooler and radiator is just above that gap.

After contacting the 4WP Factory and questioned this fitment I got this as an answer.

Hello Customer,

The official word from R&D was this:

The large gap is to make sure the skid plate is compatible with both OE and 4WP bumper and to ensure the 4WP bumper is compatible with the OE and 4WP skid.

This the reason for the gap. The photos that were used on the website depict a slightly earlier prototype version of the bumper & skid used for marketing purposes that is not an 100% exact representation of the final product.

Thank you,

4WP

QUESTION: isn't the idea of a skid plate is to protect the underside and leave no gap in venerable areas?

I am not saying don't buy from them I have LOVED all the other items. Just realize that the skid plate is NOT the one on the red bronco the have in the pictures.

I will be building an additional skid plate to fill the gap.

Sorry to hear about that fitment. It seems like some false advertisement with how their photo looks to how the product actually is. Kinda crappy for them to lead people to think the fitment is like the one on their picture.

This isn't the first time 4wp says one thing and then another when an item is released. They originally said their side steps could be used as sliders, then magically they said further tested needed to be conducted

I heard 4WP did this to draw negative news from Ford's mishaps. Saw it on another site that starts with the number of the devil. :devilish: KIDDING!

Good stuff - this is exactly why we have this forum moving forward. Thanks for the heads up.

Whoa - 2nd shady business practice from 4WP.

While I don’t wish any harm to anyone - I certainly hope that it doesn’t take a false advertising or product liability lawsuit based on their obviously deceptive practices and known product defect to help them manage their business in a more forthright manner.

Yep, it's easy to only get 4-5 Stars ONLY on your website! There are programs that use a link that clears a review then posts the 4-5 and basically trashes the 3-1's

I just received my skid plate today . I’m going to return it . I couldn’t install if I wanted to as they didn’t send the brackets but I guess it doesn’t matter. thank you for sharing. It doesn’t make sense for it not to fit. A 3 inch gap is inexcusable

Too many companies are treating this as a "speciality" build. Thier attitudes are, "if you cant pay our price, you shouldn't own one..." such a shame that Ford Motor Company decided these places deserved the bronco ahead of Honest resevation holders. In my opinion, there should have only been one booth at SEMA with a bronco. Not 90% of them. There are some really nice ones that I've seen and there are some exaples of more money then sense. Might be cheaper to buy a cnc plasma cutter and contract a local powder coater to make my own parts and accessories. Let them choke on thier shotty scrap.
