Has anyone driven the Trans-America Trail? https://www.transamtrail.com/ It is a coast to coast system of trails totaling about 7,000 miles.

Nope but, I rode my Harley from NYC to LA with a few buddies a couple of years ago…

There is a couple on YouTube who did it last year and posted their trip in segments. I watched many of them as I am in Georgia and I may want to try some of the East Coast segments.

I agree. It's probably the best way to see the states, away from the Interstates! I imagine this would be added to a lot of peoples' bucket lists if they knew of it. It's the first time I've ever heard of it, but then again, I'm relatively new to the world of off-roading.
Chris here. I drive a 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. I'm happy to be a lone wolf.

It is in my bucket list. When I get my Bronco I will start planning the trip. Maybe a group from here going together would work. I know I don't want to go alone.

Here's a great thread from a group that did the TAT last year. Kind of long, but complete with pros/cons, pics, descriptions and video.

I'm going to do some sections here on the east coast this year, the rest will have to be scheduled later on in life...

Back in 2016 we rode (Dual Sport, ADV bikes) most of the section Colorado west to Port Orford. Its most epic!!

We stayed a night in La Sal UT, 3 Step Hideaway.

I guess the question is......what do you want to know about it? Two of the guys on this trip have done 85% of the TAT and between he and I, we know several others that have done the entire trip. Whats on your mind about it?

Maybe next year or 2023 I plan on doing the full trail. It would be great to have company from here. Hook up with others along the way. I'm retired so time is not a problem. Right now I'm just throwing the idea out there to see if anyone might be interested. Thanks for the great pictures!

Personally I'm interested more in the Colorado parts west but heck, I'm not saying no to the whole thing.:) Too soon to know for sure but I do know another Jeep friend that might also be interested in going.(y)

As for a rough idea for planning, basically you want to give yourself about a Month/Month and a half for the whole thing. It's typical for people to "burn out" a couple times on the trip, just due to the length. Mentally, people tend to forget its more a journey than a destination and thats very opposite of how people typically plan for driving/riding adventures. If you remember that then you'll have less burn out overall and be better prepared. For most, it's a journey of a lifetime, it's going to be 90% off the beaten path and slow going. You'll feel like you're nowhere and somewhere all at the same time. You also might want to consider having people join you in sections/parts of the journey as not everyone can take the much time off. Anyway, those are just thoughts off the top of my head.
