What length and drop work best?

I have a 2 Dr BL with 33s, Ford hitch. Will mostly be towing dual PWC trailer with two 8-900 lb Skis.

What do I need to get past the spare and keep the trailer level?

I've used my 2 door BadSquatch factory tow to pull my double PWC trailer and my 6x10 with 2 dirt bikes. A 4" drop clears the spare to allow trailer hookup, but in the case of my 6x10, the trailer jack would hit the spare in a tight turn. So I use a 12" hitch extension with a 2" drop receiver, puts the pivot point behind the spare so the jack always clears. With my trailer, this also involves a wiring harness extension and a safety chain extension. I don't have a pic on the Bronco, but here's the same setup on my 3/4 ton to clear a slide in camper. I have lots of miles with this setup on my truck and my Bronco. With a 2-2.5k lb trailer, the extension is fine.

2” drop & 12” extension attached with a hitch clamp works great for my small boat trailer.

No way I would tow like that. Have the jack moved back. I had to do that on my flat bed car hauler. It only cost about $75.

I ordered a 16 in ball mount that I thought was a 2 inch drop, but it was actually a 4 inch drop. I’ll see this coming weekend how it works on the Sasquatch Wildtrak. I’m hoping it doesn’t squat too much. If it does, I’ll return it and start over.

Obviously depends on your exact trailer. The standard hitch height for most smaller utility/boat trailers is 14 inches.

The Badlands with 33” tires has a hitch mount that approx 18” off the ground… so that would mean a 4” drop hitch is ideal.

I personally have a Gen-Y Phantom adjustable drop hitch (4.5” max drop) and the lowest setting has been perfect for my utility trailer.

You will want the equivalent of Reese's #21345. The drop is 4-inches, and the shaft length is 11-inches. That works with my Outer Banks and Squatch tires, to tow my dual axle trailer level, while having clearance to mount the trailer tongue's hitch onto the 2 5/16 ball. Cost is usually $33

Curious to revisit this topic and if anyone can share a picture. I'm about to order a 2025 Bronco Badlands Squatch tires and don't want to use an extension to haul a dual PWC trailer. Ford dealer said that I would need to keep the ball connected and slide it into the receiver almost in reverse order. Would just like to see and confirm that it can be done and make sure I'm not getting into a mess. Thanks in advance for your help in sharing what it looks like.

100% you can attach a trailer that way. (It’s a bit of a PITA it shouldn’t be too bad for a dual PWC trailer)

Will the trailer hit the tire? OR - can you swing the door open hook up the hitch and then close the door?

I have a 2022 Black Diamond. I have to open the door to have the hitch mechanism clear the tire and be able to latch or unlatch hitch. Not desirable but it works.

The trailer should NOT hit the tire. Unfortunately, I was not able to open the swing out gate fully but, as @jtpasto stated he can and confirmed it’s a PITA but, doable. Good luck!

Having a similar issue. Purchased a pop up trailer. Had to use the extension to get it home. Could not get it to latch under the tire properly. Obviously not safe to use the extension. Was thinking about removing the tire and try to find a way to mount when towing.

I do the same with my utility trailer. For me it beats the alternative. Besides you don't have to open the rear door all the way. :0)

You can use a drop hitch I think mine was a 2” drop, that will clear the tire. But I didn’t like how low the tongue was so I just use the extension Broncos can’t tow heavy enough trailers that it should matter. My home built is about 1200lbs, we have put about 5000 miles on it so far.
