There is a switch on my Badlands to turn off traction control. What are the situations where it is advised to do that? I know it will turn off automatically in some GOAT modes- Im wondering when else. Thanks.

The whole purpose of traction control is to control the wheel spin and to reduce power when it senses a tire slipping. Great for on-road applications where tire slip is unwanted (unless of course you want to do a sick burnout đ). Typically any time you're off road, no matter what goat mode is activated, you'll want TC off. There's also advance trac, which is like a secondary traction control which allows some wheel slip, but will still reduce power after a short period of wheel slip. To turn advance trac off, it's the same button as traction control, you just hold the button for a few seconds until the pop up on your dash says "advance trac off". Generally, whenever I'm off roading I will turn traction control and advance trac off, as letting your vehicle have wheel spin is beneficial for going over slippery surfaces

Is it just one long press to turn both off or do you still have to turn each off separately ?

Generally agree with @Jyeet24 post, so no need to restate what he said.
To be more direct: You canâand a lot of people doâturn off traction control anytime youâre off-roading. But the three biggest situations where it helps the most is in mud, deep/powdery snow, and especially sand.
The amount of people Iâve helped get unstuck from the beach or on the ski hill by simply turning off their traction control (on all cars not just the Bronco) is amazing. I should start charging for my expert-level button pressing services. đ

I understand the traction control but what is this Advanced Traction control? And as above to turn it off you hold that same button down?

AdvanceTrac uses a bunch of sensors to determine if the vehicle is skidding sideways, has lost steering control, is at risk of rolling over, etc. and applies corrective braking in an attempt to control it. Basically it stops you from drifting.
"AdvanceTrac" is just Ford's marketing/branding lingo for Electronic Stability Control.

I agree with all of the above. Which is why, in general, I always use one of the GOAT modes when off-road. Not only will they handle things like setting the right throttle control, etc, but they will also take care of turning off traction control and Advanced TC. If that GOAT mode turns on something I don't want, like lockers, I just turn them off manually, but I always start with a GOAT mode and make adjustments from there. This is PARTICULARLY helpful in Sand, as I learned the hard way. đ

This is one of the stand-out features of the Bronco. Not only will the GOAT modes help people who aren't sure of the settings they need for the condition they are in, but they also provide benefits you can't get by simply replicating the same features (e.g., selecting the 4WD mode, turning off traction control, etc.) GOAT modes will also change steering and accelerator input maps to provide better management for the condition. And if you pay attention to what settings the GOAT modes select, you can still learn. đ
