Tow hitch installers aftermarket, have you done the wiring yet?

So, I didn't order the 500 dollar tow add-on and instead ordered a Kurt bolt-on for 88 bucks and shipping. Now that I have that setup, I need to move on to the wiring. I have seen a Ford set-up offered for 130 bucks. Then I noticed that Kurt and other companies do simple 4 wire deals for 30 dollars.
Some kits on Sleabay and Slamazon are offering both male and female sets, 4 wire, 30 foot all around for 18 bucks.
I will go for a solid Kurt harness, but I was planning on just going really simple 4 wire. Has anyone wired a Bronco yet?
I ask because I was wondering if Ford leaves wire stubs hanging out just like in the engine bay for a trailer hitch light setup?
Has anyone actually wired one up to the existing brake and directionals yet?
When I did one many, many years back, I don't remember the specifics, but it was something like two of teh lights shared one wire (directionals and running lights maybe?).

Trailer folks, please chime in . I have the hitch, I still need an arm, a ball and a good and reasonbalble solid 4 wire set up. I am hopeing to get all done under 150 (not that the proce really matters).

Help! Please Ansewer my dilemma

Curt 56648 will def check out the harness. My hitch is a Curt as well so kinda cool they will match. I still need an arm and a ball. I saw that some company is offering a step n place of the ball, which kinda cool if you wanna check out the rear of the truck and just have a little better access around the back

I will say that, yes, you can def get a simple 4 wire set up as low as 16 bucks but the one thing about the above and here-noted # 56468 is plug and play and I found it for 70 bucks plus ship here. https://www.carid.com/ford-bronco-h...w=979665&year_id=178877&offermpnid=4806749472.

Yes.... tips.... I can give a few I suppose. I did the Ford 4 pin wiring harness. I thought at some point curt was coming out with a plug and play one.
1. Get a buddy to help you, 2 heads are better than 1.
2. Take your time, the directions available (pulled from B6G) kinda suck, but they will get you through it. May require a little bit of thinking on your part.
3. Left turn signal (non-LED taillights), had 2 wires of very similar color. I know this because we initially spliced into wrong wire and took us a bit to figure it out and get working again.
4. Set aside at least 4 hours. It's a process, but more time is spent thinking than actually doing it.
5. Don't get overwhelmed. By the time we finished, we were like Wow, it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be.

Good luck. Be prepared to remove quite a few plastic panels, including the painted plastic piece below the taillight (that one was scary).

That harness looks simple enough. You'd still need to cut the rubber grommets to get those plugs from the inside to the outside, but has to be easier than splicing into wires like I had to do. I probably would've gone that route if it was available back when I did mine.

I get the idea that ripping it all apart to get to the wires is necessary, but I was under the impression with the specific Curt kit that it is a plug and play set up, meaning: you literally unplug the light socket and just bridge the plugs from one to the other with the provided male and female sockets (no splicing or tapping into wires, but rather clicking and unclicking 4 separate factory and factory specific aftermarket junctions connections?

Are you using the standard off-the-shelf do-it-yourself kit or was it the noted Bronco-specific kit for 65 bucks? I have seen several generic kits on eBay for 20 bucks, but I would much rather spend the extra fifty bucks to click and go once I rip down to the wires.

That was alotta work! A little scary at times, I am sure! It's sure funny, I have gotten to several points with my Bronco when I turn around and there are endless parts all over the place ( kick panel speakers, fabbing the engine cover, and removing the turbo tubes) only to stop, turn around, and think "What the hell are you doing?! This damn thing is brand new for Christ's sake!" It all seems to come apart and go back together pretty easy as long as you are patient, however.

LOL - been there, done that!

I frequently find myself in a position like you describe and it’s even worse if my wife sees it all disassembled and starts asking waaay too many questions…

The thing that usually gets me most is the plastic panels. I have viewed several videos in which folks have shared... "While it may sound like all hell is breaking loose, keep going... all is okay!" Once you start taking these panels apart, you do get more confidence, but it is still scary as hell when you hear that pop or crack that sounds just a little bit too loud!

Sorry, of course, here I am asking you which harness you used and now, after looking back at the posts I clearly note that it says the uni 4 pin. My bad! I would go that way if I had it laying around and I would just solder all the joints with heat shrink, but , at this time, since it is not ordered, I think I will kick it up to the click and go! I am also just lazy!

When taking pieces / panels off take a lot of pictures. You have a phone - use it. Use a cup to put little fasteners in . Don't be in a hurry. I have not done the Bronco but have done a Jeep and a Dodge pickup. Drilling thru the roof of a new 2500 diesel 4x4 to add running lights makes you stop and think. Drill into the tailgate, interior on a jeep is not that bad. Get it wrong oh well so you got a little hole that is likely covered. if not who sees it. But that roof - no one wants to be wet. Watch all video several times , think it thru measure three times.

As to wiring -
On other vehicles when I had a wiring kit made for that vehicle you unplug the existing wires and plug the wiring kit in. One of the existing plugs go into one end of the kits plug the other goes in the other end. Kit plug goes in the middle. Clear as mud I am sure. Pictures in the instructions help. Utube video should be up soon. E trailer will have the wiring kits and yes you pay for the plug expect to pay at least 60 more for a plug in kit than a kit that you splice.

Appears every kit on the bronco wants you to run a wire to the battery and put a fuse on that line. Not that hard just got to get down and crawl around. I am old and fat so I will jack it up , put it on jack stands then crawl under .
Waiting to be a Bronco owner got a base model on order. So someday, maybe?

So don't have mine yet (Feb 7th build date)... I also deleted the tow pkg due to dealer recommendation that it would delay my order. So I'm in the same boat. I have seen several youtube vids on the physical hitch install - looks pretty straight fwd. The wiring harness the use is a Ford p/n (don't know exactly which one) but in the videos, it involves removing the tail lights and splicing into the oem harness and then running a power wire, either via upfitter or all the way to the battery. I don't plan on towing much (maybe a 5x8 single axle or a jet ski) but it would still be nice to have the option. Just don't like the idea of splicing into wires on a new vehicle, esp with CANBUS technology. I really wish they made a plug-in-play like my old F150, where they had a plastic connector near the rear license plate, you bought a $35 adaptor that plugged in between, ran the 4-way under the rear bumper - done.

Lil Mike,

This is what I think this package is. If you look in the below image (Curt says for Bronco 2021 )it def has plugs for plug and play fittings 4 of 'em.

The black wire and the fuse holder is the only work. Got to take that black wire up to the battery just before battery put the fuse in line and make it so you can get to it.

Wonder if you can use one of the 10 ampers in the ceiling and just run a line out so when you tow you just throw a ceiling switch and when not it is just off! Shit! I have been thinking about how and if I am ever really going to use all of them.

I was always under the impression that it just ran off the existing light structure, but I guess it makes sense that it would be too much of a draw without a secondary batt source. That switch idea sounds better and better. I think this may be how I run mine; this way you have a designated towing switch.

I like that - the connectors look similar to what I have seen in the past for rangers/ F150s. I will have to do some more homework. Won't have a need to tow anytime soon, so I have some time to look into it and do it right. I'd rather run the battery wire all the way up, as I plan on using the rear upfitter for my back up spot lights (I'm almost 50 and have a hard time seeing backing down my 40ft drive). I had LED pod lights on my F250 that lit up the whole driveway. Wanting to do the same on the Bronco
