To Roush or not to Roush

I’m really interested in the performance upgrades from Roush. I have no experience with it. I do have a stage 1 on my Harley Dyna, but since it cane on the bike I can’t make a comparison to stock.

Does anyone have any practical experience with Roush upgrades? I would put on the Air Filter and exhaust. I’ll be upgrading the 2.3L.
Thanks!

I just read someone doing the Roush intake and they said it was a complete waste of money.

That's a lot of money for a CAI and some graphics. I don't know if it adds enough to be worth it. Im not super blown away by the stickers. Honestly though, you may be better off with one of the aftermarket tunes and a cat-back exhaust. Just one dude's opinion.

Not sure if anyone has anything quantitative, but people's anecdotal evidence is it does not improve performance or sound. Other's say it is too restrictive and not really useful for these power plants. This is all hearsay, whether accurate or not. I think it looks good, but if it doesn't perform then it is a no go. Maybe the Whipple tune and large reusable filter.

I've heard you can add 150+ HP by simply applying "ROUSH" decals to your Bronco.
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

its a reusable dry filter, and again, CAI, not a downpipe, not gonna be mindblowing

to get gains from it, you’d need a tune and some exhaust work

Sounds like I’d be wasting my money. I’ll wait until there are good tuning options!

I would think the best bang for the buck for performance would be upgraded intercooler and tune. Stock intercooler seems tiny so not sure if it gets super heat soaked or not but I'm sure companies will do some testing on it.

Yes of course, the main reason I personally am not really sure about the Roush CAI, even though it looks cleaner and nicer than anything else right now. Tune and exhaust mods. I suspect Ford racing will bring out a package for the 2.7 at some point. Maybe the Roush CAI, Ford performance axel back exhaust and a custom tune..... Oh well, no vehicle to play with so it is mute.......

Oh man, if I had a nickle for every vehicle I bench built I would have a ginormous pile of nickles.

I did the Roush intake on my 2.3 Ecoboost Mustang - it's a total waste of money as mentioned .. dyno tests by reputable tuners have proven that almost all CAI's are worthless on that particular engine, at least in the Mustang.. the factor air box flows really well.. you're better off just getting a K&N drop in filter for the stock air box, and save yourself a few hundred bucks. The 2.3 DOES respond very nicely to a tune and bigger intercooler though... :)
