Three week old 2021 bronco crapped out already. I will admit that I am on here to vent. We bought a 2021 bronco sport, I know I know it’s just a sport but it’s for my son and for some reason he is a Ford fanatic. After driving it for three weeks a short distance to work it’s buttered to a stop, had to be towed to the dealership. After sitting in the dealership for a week they now believe it’s transmission related and can’t diagnose it any further without removing the entire transmission. So much for having a new vehicle. I can’t believe that they feel it’s acceptable to have to rip aoart a brand new vehicle. I’m sorry but once it’s been pulled apart by a bunch of mechanics it is definitely not fresh off the showroom floor. So does it make sense to anybody here that they would have to rip the entire transmission out in order to just diagnose a problem? What happened to all the fancy computer Diagnostics? So how would any of you all feel if your brand newly delivered bronco of whatever level crapped out and had to be torn apart within the first month of ownership. No apologies no nothing from either the dealership or Ford. Actually they’re annoyed that we are calling to find out what’s going on so much.

I'd be disappointed, but I'd rather have a repaired or replaced transmission now than one that crapped out right out of warranty; glass half-full :)

I feel your pain , but I was a master certified tech 28 years and this is reason for a warranty, what you need to remember is this product is new to you as well as Ford and unfortunately things don’t move as fast as we would like. Most likely the dealer is working with Ford for a solution, a replacement transmission and yours will go back and be torn down to find faulty part/s. I would always tell customers to avoid the 1st year of a new product. I’m waiting on a 22MY for that very reason. Hopefully they put you in a loaner if not reach out and request one .

Pretty tough to have the glass half full when you paid over 30 grand for a car that immediately needs major work, But thanks for the positive outlook

I guess we have to chalk it up to a bad piece of luck. Hard to understand with all the high tech diagnostics that they have to rip out the whole transmission. But I’m no mechanic. Thanks for your response.

Well if it Has to be repaired three times for the same thing it’s a lemon. My poor kid has had nothing but trouble with Fords and yet he sticks with them.I used to be a Corvette girl, Porsche, BMW, Dodge Daytona Shelby Z , And I did back in the Day buy a new Thunderbird turbo. That was interesting. Now I’m an old fart with a reliable Honda SUV that never gives me any trouble at all, LOL

Part of the problem with the diagnostics is that there are some electro-mechanical parts that run in an open loop condition, there is no feedback for the computer to know that a part is actually functioning. The computer knows power was sent to a device but not that the device actually responded.
For example unplug the IAC valve the car won't run but the computer doesn't know its unplugged. No code.

Welcome to the Nation @Madmaxine89 Sorry about your situation. I am a firm believer that certain people have good luck with certain manufacturers. My dad is a Ford guy and he once bought a Tam truck well three transmission in less than 8000 miles he now has an 3.5l EB F150. I cannot own Pontiac the two that I tried ended horribly but Chevys have served me well. I have 3 of them right now. And I have had good luck with Fords the only one I ever had problems with is an 04 and I still have it. But the problem has been replaced with a Cummins.

There is an open recall on some Ford transmissions right now. Not saying this is the case, but I’ve had several run-ins with customers claiming similar issues on their new Fords.
Either way, it’s still under every warranty in the book and you should have the option to do a buy-back since it’s so new.

It literally is brand new, not like $30g for a car that's been around for 3-4yrs and due for a refresh

Amazing, never thought the trans would have to be pulled for running out of gas.

When I had my Jeep Liberty I heard that same crap. "Get a REAL Jeep". That is until I pulled out a stuck Wrangler. In a mud bog at that. Lets not go down that road on here.
