If you have read some of my posts, you know, as with many other owners, while I adore my Bronco, I absolutely despise the Sound System!
When I heard, initially that the base system had six speakers, I was like SHWWWWIIING!!! This thing will def rock with so many!
Then I got the truck and no matter how hard I tried by...
a) Changing out all six speakers
b) Stuffing sound deadener in the back pods, the dash, and the kick panels
c) Fiddling with the front-to-back master mixer in attempts to break the factory's absurd 25% to 75% speaker ratio (Back to front)!
d) Fiddling with the treble, Mid, and bass settings
I just couldn't smile enough or fake it, and it nags the hell out of me all the time, as music is so crucial to me as part of my driving and vacationing experience.
I looked online and found the plug-and-play site that has a Kicker mini amp (too expensive in the end and all on back order).
I considered giving up the below seat space to mini compact under-seat woofers (too cumbersome and in the way no matter how hard you try).
I bought the Forscan but haven't done the split equalization that Budget Bronco recommends (still need to try but haven't been able to download the software from Fordscan on my crappy laptop and teh phone is just too damn complicated for me right now).
So, I said I had the answer but need help and here it is. You can find them used on eBay for as cheap as 60 bucks (a little beat) and new for as little as 150 delivered.
I know! It is JEEP. GOD FORBID!
Jeep folks who have dealt with these "Rollbar Sound Bars" I have a few questions as I am def thinking of doing this.
A) What are the measurements? I looked all over online and no one offers them (I assume a Jeep and Bronco must be relatively close in width, correct)?
B) They look hollow for the most, so is there enough room to run the amp up there as well if you gut the light assembly and wiring and make a plate to cover all of that?
C) Do they actually kick from the factory? I ask because as I said, they are listed to fit for just about all Wrangler models from like 2008 to 2014. and they are as low as 80 bucks delivered?
Secondly, as an obvious idea to me, if you look at a Bronco tailgate, it is essentially one huge bass cab. There is no window that slides up and down and it already has the wiring and rubber crossed over from the moving gate to the back harness. Why aren’t folks stuffing amps, speakers, and subs in the actual tailgate?
Just ideas. Please chime in and tell me if I am nuts or overlooking something huge.
It is funny, through all the years of building hotrods, homes, and everything else, I never really messed with complex sound systems. I have messed with head units and two speakers in the back of an 80s junker, but nothing more than a few red, green, and black wires.
Lastly, can someone please explain/define how people are "Tapping into the 6 3/4 kick panel speakers to “boost” to the rear 4”?
Would I just trace the color codes and run loops off the kick speakers spades and splice those into the wires that run to the 4” inch pods? I ask b/c I am convinced that if I could get more volume from the factory head to those rear 4 inches, it would rock enough for me.
Is this what Budget Bronco's, Forscan equalization video explains/does?
In closing… SORRY! I know my post, as usual, is all over the place!
