So, if they can leave out the chip/module that controls the stop/start feature on some Ford's (but apparently not the Bronco) then why does a person have to buy a Autostop illuminator if all they have to do is UNPLUG this chip/module? Just curious! Thanks all!

Or just go through forscan.
I just turn it off like I turned traction control off every time I started my fiesta st.

I second the Forscan way. No need to dismantle the front panel to add the eliminator.

No, I got the A.S.S. Eliminator, it works like a charm, EXCEPT when it's frigid out, then system cycles on and off as it warms up. Other than that, I completely forgot my girl has A.S.S. at all

Funny way to put it the ASS Eliminator because its a giant pain in the ASS.... I installed it pretty easy and works like a charm.. Such a stupid thing to begin with. Add all the safety crap then have it stall every time you need to hop in to fast moving traffic.... What a great idea with my family in the car..

Yeh-a bothersome addition mandated? in the name of fuel-economy. In actuality, something added that is not really necessary; and another "thing" that can go wrong and co$t the owner in a repair bill...maybe?

Hey Mods scanning this thread, should do a Forscan series for people who have no clue where to start; Forscan for Dummies!

Good question. Not sure. Maybe someone else knows a hack that works.

In the meantime. My two cents. I and others tried finding ways to disable ASS months ago in 2021 without using FORSkin but we were unsuccessful. I thought maybe I figured it out but the part I disconnected behind center stack on the driver side footwell controlled my A/C compressor lol. Fixed that in a snap.

So I bought and installed the ASS eliminator 6 months ago. Great product. No issues in cold weather, I think they fixed the cold weather issue on new units.

I love that I no longer have to turn ASS off every time I start my bronco bc half the time I forget especially when running out the door early A.M. to take my son to school. Which wasn't safe because I live next to a busy side street that I have to kick it to get onto sometimes so not get T-Boned and if ASS is on...it takes too long to get engine to cycle back on and get my 2.3 MT 4door on 37s out of the hole.

I caved for about 10 min recently bc gas prices so high by turning ASS back on. *Which is nice to be able to do if ever needed on the fly (can't do this if you go with the FORScan method btw). But I discovered I just can't get around using ASS because of the start delay and other reasons shared. Moreso because of the stress ASS puts on the starter AND the stress it puts on the engine + turbo by turning it all off without a proper cool down period. It also gets hot as hell where I live (120s in Summer) which makes the latter even worse.

Side note. Other day I also noticed the engine auto starts if you try turning the A/C blower fan up a notch while ASS is on.

Yep, ASS eliminator was the 2nd mod I did (first priority was wheels/ tires of course) :) . I heard good and bad about doing it through FORscan, although I will be getting into FORscan for tire/ speedo correction, double honk and bambi mode though. I have also seen hacks online where you can jumper the back of the ASS switch, and one guy said removing that little capacitor looking thing on the negative battery terminal will kill ASS as well. After doing my homework, I just went with the ASS eliminator (seemed to be the best/ safest option).

From what I've researched and been told, it really does very little for fuel economy and can cause premature wear on components like starters and turbos as @NT AUTOMOTIVE stated above. It's more of a political thing with the OEM's having to find "creative" ways to comply with tightening EPA requirements. They have to show "measurable continuous improvement", even if it is only 0.02 mpg's and/or could damage other parts of the vehicle.

On my 2017 F250 they had this huge, ugly "cattle catcher" air dam on the lower bumper. Most people were removing this unsightly thing the moment they got the truck. On one of the F-series forums, I read where this is the same concept as the ASS system. Ford proved to the EPA, that putting a cow catcher on their heavy trucks increased mpg's at hwy speeds up to something like 0.15. I personally would rather drive around in a cool looking truck vs maybe save a 1/3 a gal of fuel per tank :)

Yes, on the Bronco (and wife) - maybe that's why I'm divorced? lol

If the auto start/stop would not default back to "on" at start up, then yes totally agree, I'd click that puppy off and it'd stay off. Then no need for the eliminator.

Didn't even realize there was one for the first couple weeks. Apparently I keep it in gear with my foot on the clutch when I am stopped at a light. Never had the habit of putting it in neutral and taking my foot of the clutch. Pretty much the same as not putting an automatic trans in neutral when you stop. That being said it should stay off forever if you want it off.

Agreed on the last sentence. However, it's not good for the clutch if keep foot on it at stop lights.
