As everyone knows, CA has been getting pummeled with rain. Well today we got a peel of sunlight and this opportunity presented itself. You can’t have a rainbow without some rain.

LOL ... thanks! granted, I shot in RAW on the phone, and transferred them to my computer when I got home so I could edit them properly :)

I wasn't sure on the rainbow picture... but yeah... the second set of pictures have a lot more dynamic range than what you'd get out of Apple's default image processor.

I worked in television for a little over a decade as a video engineer, so I'm fairly familiar with cameras, lenses, etc. But obviously my wheelhouse is video and not still images. I've been meaning to get into still photography for a LONG time, but just haven't taken the plunge yet. With cell phone cameras these days I don't really have any excuse not to give it a try--don't even have to buy equipment.

Do you just turn on ProRAW or do you use a third party app?

I'm using an older IPhone 13 Pro Max, and it has a native ability to shoot in RAW, so I used that on these images :)

Today’s phone cameras take better pictures than yesterday’s professional cameras.
