Hello Everyone,

I thought I'd share a video I did in regards to the new Toyo Open Country R/T Trail tires. I have yet to take them trail driving, but the road manors are leaps and bounds better than the factory tires. If you have a look at the tire specs, they are well suited for a Overland style Bronco build. Here's my thoughts, enjoy!

stock vs the Toyo to compare

Similar specs, the toyos are 14 lbs heavier only notable difference numbers vs numbers.

That link is for the old R/T's. The tire in the video is the R/T Trail. I don't think tire rack has them listed yet.

Ahhh, that makes sense. I was reading the tire rack reviews and they weren't really too flattering. I love the tread pattern on the new R/T Trails. Very aggressive.

It can get confusing with the way they named the tire. All they did was add the word "Trail" after R/T. But, indeed it's a completely different tire :)

So far it's a perfect tire for a Bronco with extra weight. I was worried the ride quality would suffer with a stiffer D rated tire. But, it rides and drives better than the factory sasquatch tires.

I like how they look; I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions of their off-road characteristics. I'm going to wait to replace my factory tires until they've become bologna skins. LOL

That said, I'll let y'all spend your money and write reviews so I can make an informed purchase. 😝

"I have people for that." LOL

No, seriously though. I do appreciate you and your sharing your impressions, especially if it saves others the pain and aggravation of buying something that doesn't suit their particular needs. If I were better off, I'd probably do the same thing. But I just bought my Bronco and I'm broke now, so your feedback is that much more critical for future consideration. Cheers, sir!

Thank you sir. So far, these tires are five stars. My exploring starts around June. Then I'll get some off road miles.

I replaced the factory Big Bend tires with these about 3 months ago. I'm loving them. I found that with a chalk test they can be brought down to 31 PSI and notice a better ride.

I spent 4 days in the KofA in Arizona on them, never had a worry about any sharp rocks and they did excellent in rocks, sand, some mud. I aired them down to 19 PSI and again noticed a big difference in ride.

I got the size 255/80 R17 to keep the outsides within the fender flares, but gain an inch of lift. They are very confidence inspiring and I'd buy another set when they wear out.
My milage went down about 2 MPG due to their weight increase. Even if I'd gotten the less capable Toyo AT, the weight was going up from stock. Everyone on that other forum commented that E rated are too stiff. I've NOT found that to be the case at all. No jarring, no rough ride on pavement, none of the hand wringing about E rated that some seem to do. Again, I'm glad I have stiff, tough offroad tires that are quiet on pavement.
