Why is this such a big issue with folks? It still displays on the screen. That's the same as the F-150. Can someone explain...in 50 words or less. ;) No seriously...50 words or less.

I think it’s aesthetics and the ability to quickly reference the temp. I personally don’t care, but can see why some may.

Well with all of the other issues this vehicles has, I guess we need to keep our eyes on the target. IMO it is better on the screen. You don't have to look down to see them...it's at the top and more inline with your vision on the road.

I have a work-around. If you are too hot or too cold, turn the knob. Been doing it that way for over 40 years.

I've noticed in general that a large majority of 21'/22' bronco owners are just a bunch of whiny a$$es about a lot of petty bronco things.

26 words, what do I win??? :)

It isn't a big issue, but for a lot of people they reserved a 2021 Bronco, they want a 2021 Bronco, they ordered a 2021 Bronco, so they want a 2021 Bronco.

Obviously they had to reorder in October for 2022, and with that comes with whatever minor changes Ford decides to include. But for some reason that model year change was lost on some people. I think at this point people are so tired of waiting for their vehicle that any little thing will trigger them.

That said, to be 100% fair to these people. It is a change that should have been documented. Admittedly would not have stopped the complaining--the Wildtrak mirror caps and door handle changes were documented and people complained about that change for a solid 2 weeks. But it still should have been documented.

That's a good one...also I love your screen name. I might change mine to MIGeezer. Yep same here. Also don't need a car that can parallel park, or better yet have a knob and computer to backup a trailer. If you don't get it put your hand on the bottom of the wheel and turn it the way you want the trailer to go. OK...I'll get off the box!!

I feel like maybe this thread seems designed to beat up on those who don't like the change, and I'm respectful of everyone's perspectives, but here goes:

I honestly think it's a matter of aesthetics. It was a 'clean' design and many people liked it. But the real reason, I think, is the CHANGES that have been made between MY21 and MY22 -- from what people originally really liked and ordered -- and what is now being offered.

Now, I'll expand on this a bit...

For example, maybe you ordered a MY21 Wildtrak. Now you no longer have body-colored handles, no longer have gloss black mirrors, no longer have the temp display on the knobs, etc. It's feeling like Ford is 'cheaping out' on a $60k vehicle. If your response on that is 'well, but maybe you'll have it faster', I'd say so what? I want what was designed and offered, not settle for what Ford has been able to cobble together. How many things are you wiling to have changed or sacrificed in order to get your Bronco? What we are NOT seeing is design improvements or changes based on FUNCTION, but instead more likely based on cost reduction.

For those who are saying "get over it?", I question... would you care if Ford got rid of the shifter and instead used a dial (like I have in my Explorer)? That's a similar type change -- in theory, there would be no alteration in function. So would it matter? What about if Ford changes from the current tires to, say, some Chinese brand you've never heard of?

In the end, it doesn't REALLY matter to me... I ABSOLUTELY liked it on the knobs -- that's how it was designed, and this is just one more thing jammed onto the already-busy screen. BUT... If it's not on the knobs, that's just one less tiny screen or element to fizzle out. So long-term, it's whatever. Just kind of irksome. I formerly drove a '67 F100 as my daily driver, so I'm no stranger to the controls posted by @frdfan -- but I could also be driving a fully restored F100 for half of what this is costing me.

I'll attach a picture here (borrowed from another forum member, so my apologies) that illustrates what it DID look like:

This is a small deal in retrospect. It would have been better to communicate this MY configuration change. Its probably a bit more of a pain to click back through the temp settings, but my doors are going to be off like half the year, so Ill probably only monkey with the heat, and set it and forget it.

Agreed, and exactly @Mal ... that's essentially the root of what I was saying... Ford is making tweaks/changes and not communicating, and it seems to be MOSTLY the LOSS of functions or form, and NOT improvements.

Yep. It sure would be nice if FOMOCO would just put out the list of changes. It might change how I configure things. Depending on how you are using it, the real stabalizer bar could be a plus (and I am certainly NOT wanting to start that argument up), but that seems to be the only change that added capability.

I don't know how ford's dual climate system works. But, my wife's GM uses a module with relays and a servo to move a damper in the air duct. Works sorta ok. Here in S Fl when the sun is baking you thru the window you have to crank it colder.

The real issue is most folks are just taking shoots at folks in good fun...remember good fun...joking with each other...making fun of the moment. Man you folks would have never made it in the 60s and 70s. The other and bigger issues IMO is this is still a truck...a truck...not life and death...a truck. Folks spend enough time looking down at their phones....don't need to give them anymore things to look down at. When the number in the dial breaks you'll be glad you don't have them. ;)

One positive way to look at this is--what if this change freed up thousands of chips needed to keep production rolling? I'm sure someone had a light go on and asked why can't we yada yada yada...save chips, build more Broncos. Btw, I'm also no stranger to the controls i posted earlier, slide heat controls, manual kick panel vents and 1/4 vent windows for ac. If you look at other models across the line, most don't have the temp in the dial, the temps are on a strip above the control knobs,,2019 Escape Titanium as an example. Its not like they're dropping the option..just displaying it somewhere else.

This whole thread has to be click bait and look, I fell for it. How boring does your life need to be to complain about a digital readout in a switch or knob that you have no option in changing? Really? Its wht ford designers picked and decided to go with. Doesnt affect the price of crumpets in London, so why waste time complaining about it. More proof that we as a society cannot be satisfied and have to find a negative in everything. Ppsshhaa....

I think you missed the point and are confusing this with the “other” Bronco forum where people can’t respect others opinions. If it annoys someone and posting about it lets them vent and release a bit of frustration over the changes and the whole wait and process to complain for a moment, then let it go! No need to come calling people names or telling them how soft or picky they are or how they couldn’t have lived through the 60s, etc.

It’s an off-road vehicle — WE GET IT. It’s Ford’s decision — WE GET IT. It’s a small change — WE GET IT. But in some cases, it’s a $60k vehicle and the stuff they’re changing is just cost shaving.

Mama always said that if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. If people taking just a moment to ask questions or vent about changes that weren’t communicated bothers you that bad, maybe just zip it and ignore the thread.

Can't. Then they feel compelled to arbitrarily complain about stupid stuff on threads I will pay attention too. It gets contagious. Im pretty positive that the chip used to control thes knobs, isn't going to sllow 15 more vehicles to get 4 wherl drive. Its an inconsequential discussion.

Who know. Strange decision, no reasons given, so in the absence of fact people can only speculate. But it makes people wonder what other subtle changes might be made without awareness. ‍♂️

But people need to chill out on going off on people or name calling, etc, over a basic post. If this forum devolves into that petty argument crap like elsewhere it won’t be worth using.

I’d say you likely haven’t been harmed… so have a great weekend! It’s 5° outside… maybe I’ll mow the lawn.
