I've tried to buy a Bronco (base model, 2.7, 4 door) from Tasca about a month and a half ago. Found it online, placed a request for a price check, a rep got back to me saying that its available and I can get a financing through them. They sent me a financing request application, which was filled in by them with a financing request for a car for $40k. So, assuming its just a pre-approval to check what the percent is going to be, I've consented and got an estimate of a 9% APR for a 48 * month loan with a credit score of 800+. I thought that the rate was too high and decided to try Chase (had them finance my previous vehicle) and got a 6% financing. As soon as I got in touch with Tasca to inform them I've got a better deal, they asked me if the car I inquired about is a Badlands edition for $50+k. When I told them that it was the base model, it suddenly became unavailable because it sold a week ago. I then proceeded to ask the rep why would they send a prefilled application for $40k if they're trying to sell a car that has a pricetag of 50+k, and if they expected me to just show up with an extra 10k in my pocket and why did my credit score went down by 6 points when they told me it's a *soft* inquiry (it's not supposed to affect credit score). The rep apologized for the confusion with the car and told me that the credit score drop is probably from Chase since they make a "soft" inquiry and its not supposed to affect credit score.
It only gets better from here.
I've checked my credit report only to find out it was from Ford. I called back, the rep couldn't answer that question and had to redirect me to their manager. So, the manager once again apologized and then told me that the car displays on the website because it was sold a week ago but they're displaying it due to an error, and that their payment provider has sent out the application for a $40k car by mistake and that they don't even sell cars at MSRP. He also promised that he would get the credit check fixed and I have nothing to worry about.
I basically just gave up and decided to settle on them fixing my credit, but month and a half later it still displays on my report.
I mean, it could all just be a series of unfortunate events, but seeing other posts I am kinda starting to doubt it...
Ended up going to the local dealer and ordering a Big Bend, which will cost me only a few hundred extra as a fee over MSRP. So, there is a happy ending in this story.
