Taking delivery from your dealer ?

I read a post somewhere on BN talking about taking delivery of a Bronco, and a dealer had added a bunch of options the new owner did not want, and they had to argue over either having them removed or just not paying for them.

What’s the best way to head off that scenario ? I don’t even want dealer badging on my vehicle.

I figured I’d just tell my dealer let’s make sure nothing is added from the time you get my vehicle till I pick it up and pay for it. No true coat dealer added undercoating, or synthetic blinker fluid.

Do you get out in front, way before delivery or have the conversation when you get notification it’s being delivered to the dealer ?

I would ask them upfront. Seems like that other dealer your referring to is why people HATE Ford right now. I just wish that every dealer was GOOD and we wouldn't have to worry about scenarios like this. I would be super unhappy if that happened to me and I would never pay for stuff I didnt want. So I would have the dealer either remove them or give those options for free to me.

Get a buyer's order or purchase agreement signed by both you and the dealer.

That buyer's order should list the following:
  • Final selling price of the vehicle (NOT the MSRP, but the final selling price)
  • Any dealer documentation fees they require
  • Any accessories you will be buying along with the vehicle
  • Installation costs of those accessories
  • Any additional add-ons the dealer deems "necessary"
Essentially you want your final out-the-door price that includes everything except taxes and title/registration fees, since the cost of those two items is determined by a third party (your state government) and not yourself or your dealer.

If your vehicle is already in production, not a whole lot you can do at this point. You can certainly try to head it off in some way, but ideally this should have been done when the order was submitted to Ford that way you can walk away if the dealer isn't giving you the agreement you are looking for.

I had a purchase order/agreement from the dealer back when the reservation was created. It lists all the options as I ordered them from Ford the agreement shows MSRP then the additional delivery charges, taxes, etc.

But dealers can add thing once they take delivery as it's their vehicle still I believe. That Whole dealer deems necessary is where the SH*T can happen.

If you had a purchase agreement, you agreed to buy the vehicle at the price listed in the agreement and the dealer agreed to sell it at the price listed on the document. If the dealer breaks that agreement you have a document signed by both the dealer and you that you can go to Ford with. Breaking a signed purchase agreement is directly against the dealer agreement Ford has with dealers.

The problem most people have is they are not getting a purchase agreement, they are just signing an order summary sheet, and all that does is confirm the order was submitted properly.

that's what I have I believe. My signature only on the form.

If it is this… then yeah that’s the WBDO Order Summary form. (This is mine from my 2021 order.) It is signed only by me, and it’s effectively me confirming that the order was submitted properly into Ford’s ordering system.

This is an example Buyer’s Order or Pricing Agreement. There is no standard form for this and it’ll be dependent on the specific dealer. Again… mine for 2021, and it is signed by both me and the dealer’s sales manager. (Null and void at this point since I got bumped to 2022.)

Some dealers will build the price agreement into the order summary sheet itself, which is fine. Here is an example from a dealer in Alabama (Town & Country Ford).

My dealership allowed me to inspect our Bronco the day it was delivered before they touched it. They didn’t add anything to it.

Yeah, a lot have come up with this VIP package BS to try to pad the selling price by $3k or more. I just bought another vehicle and told them to take it off, don’t want it, not paying for it and they did.

All I have is the order sheet, so Hopi g my dealer sticks to the agreed upon MSRP deal.

Neither preview order nor purchase order above shows Invoiced Price. Ask your dealer to see their Dealer Invoice before you sign anything towards actual purchase. I have received three revisions of Preview Order as I made changes before I received a VIN. Each revision shows me MSRP and Invoice Price. My Purchase Order also shows MSRP and Invoiced Amounts.

That's what I request when ordering a vehicle. I ordered a new vehicle in 2018 and I instructed the dealer not to remove any shipping plastic, no washing of any kind. The only thing that they did was the inspection required by the state laws. We were both in agreement mind you that nothing was signed and they honored it.

You can HATE Ford all you want and as long as you are in HATE mode throw all the other Manufactures in the mix such as KIA/CHEVY and so on. It is dealers causing the HATE not ford, FMC only has limited control over dealers. Pick a good dealer and problem solved. My Dealer was AKINS FORD in Winder Ga. When I made my Res- I got a E-MAIL within minutes From Kris Wall @ Akins thanking for the order and to let me know he was the BRONCO liaison. I sent him a reply asking if I needed to give them a larger deposit than FORD required and was I going to have any issues with ADMs. He told me the my deposit was al that was needed and there would be NO ADMs for any customers that ordered a BRONCO. After waiting 636 days for my OB 2dr Lux/Sas/Cyber orange/ with towing I walked into the the office handed them a check and drove home.

Well dealers aren't the ones taking all the blame. A good dealer isn't the one making the Broncos delayed. A good Bronco isn't the one making Fords quality crap (even though quality is making a comeback). In my personal opinion, (not to offend anyone) is that Farley should stop interfering with GOOD dealers and let them sell cars while Ford makes GOOD cars.

My dealer simply would do any more than the summary sheet. nothing I could do, so just hoping MSRP (and price protection) is honored. This was assured to me by salesperson and I haven’t heard of anyone getting screwed from my dealer so far….

Now I didn't say that. Ford is still the best but Dealers and Ford share the fault.

My dealer was also amazing. Absolutely amazing. I'll probably buy everything from them moving forward. Pat Milliken Ford, Redford MI. Highly recommend. No bs. I was in and out with my Bronco in 30-40 minutes. Just as ordered, clean as a whistle and 3 miles on the odo.
