Sync/Carplay update?

I may be overlooking a thread here somewhere (I searched!), but I swear I saw something posted on the BN instagram about getting a Sync update that made CarPlay full screen…. Which would be nice!

However, my Sync is up-to-date and this is apparently not a feature? Sync says no updates at this time.

What gives? Was this a Raptor-specific thing, maybe? Any details or info is appreciated! I was looking forward to this when I saw it! 😀

Soon, very soon. Some Ford vehicles are rolling off the line with the full-screen feature, so it's close for sure. And on a recent livestream Bronco Nation did with the Bronco brand manager (Matt), he said something along the lines of "its coming, but I don't have a release date yet".

Supposedly you can get it if you connect your vehicle to FDRS and update the modules, which suggests it is available but not yet pushed out for over-the-air updates. I don't know Ford's release cycle for Sync... but I'm guessing an FDRS-only release is Ford's method of pre-releasing or doing an early adopter release. Helps them catch bugs before it goes out to the masses via over-the-air.

I have FDRS... but I only have the 8" screen which has always had the full-screen Sync display. So can't verify myself.

Jordan had it on the Raptor over the weekend. I too have the 8", but my 11-24 update "Ford Power-Up 3.5.4" said screen resizing was now available for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Not incredibly helpful for you, but it exists.

What is FDRS? I know forscan and that’s about it. I keep checking for an update, I understand rolling updates.

FDRS = Ford Diagnostic and Repair System

It’s the official Motorcraft (Ford) software package for working on Ford/Lincoln vehicles model year 2018 and newer. Prior to FDRS there was FJDS (Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software) and IDS (Integrated Diagnostic Software). Those two were the the official applications used on Ford/Lincoln/Mercury and some Mazda vehicles from the mid-1990s until 2018.

Forscan originally started as a Russian bootleg clone of FJDS. It was designed to be a cheaper alternative than the official Ford software packages, as the licensing/hardware costs for Ford’s software runs thousands of dollars a year. Forscan has evolved a LOT since the first version released in 2012-ish, the developer(s) in Russia have done a good job. But obviously FDRS can do a lot more than what Forscan can.

Ya, I saw that too, I tried updating today but mine also says it's up-to-date. I wish they had the ability to "customize" your screen/wallpaper, they had that ability in my Explorer and I loved it, I was able to upload photos which was a cool option. Hopefully they can integrate that at some point.

So my Bronco Said it updated to 3.5.2 but I still don’t have full screen CarPlay? Is there a setting?

I’m having the same issue.

Res 7/7/21, ordered 8/6/21, Production week of 9/18/22, blend date 9/18/22

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

There is an update that’s been slowly rolling out. I finally got mine last week. Once you get that update FordPass will tell you about it. Then a button will appear on the upper left corner of your CarPlay that will allow you to go into and out of full screen.

Yeah the 3.5.2 update said it was so you could receive updates... which I was thinking, didn't I already have that? Kind of a confusing update, tbh. 😛

Looks like I got the update! I’m actually more curious about the rear camera functionality thing… not much for details there!
