Ok...I KNOW the Bronco isn't a race car, but I was just, you know, testing it out. Speed maxed out at 102 mph, why? Is there a speed limiter? And a follow up to that question is how do you turn it off? I won't often be driving over 100mph but.......................................................

Did you check the speed rating of the tires that are on it ? It would be a lot of fun to see what the bronco looks like at 102 miles an hour Breaking under an emergency situation. Wow horsey wow

That wasn't my question. My question was if there is a speed limiter.

I just posted a vid on here earlier today going 100 in my 2.3...and I braked for the test. Ive heard the limiter range varies bt 102, 106 and one guy said 112mph!!? Regardless, yes, it has a limiter. I plan to remove mine after warranty expires.

And after abusing the motor in your bronco, you'll undoubtedly turn to social media and cry about how ford makes an inferior product because it should hold up to whatever stupid game you wanna play. This is just another example of immaturity today. Just because you can physically do something, doesn't make you smart or cool for doing it. Hate on my post all you want.

Haha. What "nice" immature comment lol. But your profile name says it all so I'm not surprised.

First. What do you think is worse for the motor, a couple 100mph quick rips OR consistent high revs while offroading?? You know the answer..but will you admit it. TBD

I agree to a degree that if you CONSTANTLY abuse your motor, in ANY vehicle, over time it will maybe go to junk or maybe not if well maintained and not highly modified.

Its his bronco. If he wants to test its limits, safely, good for him. I did too earlier today and I've owned many cars, slow & fast, with a perfect driving record the last 25 years.

I dont think anyone here is saying to abuse their bronco. You misread the post and are now over inflating your own opinion.

If a car motor cant handle a couple rips up to 100mph throughout its entire service life, its a certified POS IMO. But I have more faith in Ford than that and you should too. Unless you got the V6 ;) Jk.

There is nothing wrong with testing your vehicle limits a few times during ownership and the rest of the time drive it normal. In fact, you should test its limits (or your own personal limits) if safe to do so--this helps you better understand your vehicle in case you need it to perform in X situation, whether in 2wd/100mph on road or 4wd LO offroad.

I’m not trying to get in the middle of this kerfuffle, but I’m not sure this is the vehicle that I’d want to be going over 100mph in due to the high center of gravity and off-road suspension tuning. Even my Mustang warns me to increase my tire pressure when going that speed. I’ve been going over 100 exactly three times in my life. The two times in a Mustang GT with proper tires and a lack of traffic weren’t an issue. The other time was in a Dodge Neon or a Geo Prizm. Either way, I wasn’t driving and one of the tires disintegrated. I was too young at the time to realize how stupid the whole thing was. So suffice to say, I’d recommend having proper tires, air pressure, and a clear road ahead for any high speed driving.

I had a Suzuki swift (same thing as a metro) with the 4 banger and a 5 speed and it would easily reach triple digits. Got out of more than one ticket because the officer couldn’t believe that thing would go that fast

No hate. You can certainly reply with your opinion and inject your personal viewpoint on maturity, stupidness and coolness. However, your post is not at all answering the question that I had...and I was certain that someone would reply in such a way, it always happens in social media. For some reason, rather than answering the question, people feel compelled to reply with their moralistic opinion. Semper Fi btw. I got out in December 95.

There are roads in Montana where the speed limit is 85.

There are roads in Montana where the road speed limit is 85. I believe that any modern vehicle should be safe enough to go more than 15 mph over the speed limit. Do I drive over 100 as a rule? Nope, I'm a 8 mph over cruise control setter. But, I also do not like having limits imposed on me on a vehicle that I own. FWIW, it handled just fine at 102. My standard driving speed will be 75 in a 75 zone because the thing is LOUD AF...that's enough to keep me from driving too fast.

It looks like in Colorado you can get up to 90 days in jail for 25 or more mph over the reasonable and prudent speed, or over the maximum lawful speed of 75 mph (a fine, or jail time, or both may be imposed) (Class 2 misdemeanor traffic offense).

I got pulled over when I was going over 100 in my Mustang GT in Michigan. I was lucky my car wasn’t impounded and that I had a really nice police officer and judge who dropped the ticket to 5 over without points. I think people are just trying to offer some friendly advice based on experience, and the fact that we all have to share the road.

Just wanted to add. Whatever the tire speed rating is means the vehicle can drive for up to 1 HOUR at that speed before the tire begins to fail. It does NOT mean it's rated to hit X speed and that's it, boom, it fails lol. No one is going to drive at 100+ for longer than a few seconds...like I did earlier today in video I posted on here as a TEST for anyone not sure how powerful the 2.3 INLINE 4cyl engine is--plenty of power. No I do not plan on doing this again anytime soon. Also remember I live in the desert with wide open flat/straight roads. Before I became a husband & father I also drove many fast cars in my life + driven 180+ more than once (Dodge Viper + S600 V12 Benz). Once with the headlights off during a full moon in Florida on A1A between Jax and Amelia Island. I had a great driving teacher, my late father (cancer) who was a Marine fighter pilot in Vietnam (Airforce & Navy Wings) and the youngest Marine aviator at that time (19yr old) to go supersonic without a college degree.
