Some 2024 Ford Bronco SUVs Get Upgraded Steering Gear and Suspension Components - From Ford Authority Web Site
The other day I was discussing my new 2024 Bronco with another potential buyer and the topic of the upgrades to the suspension and steering came up. Since I had recently purchased a 2024 Wikdtrak 2-door, you would think that I was familiar with the 2024 upgrades but I really hadn't paid much attention to the changes for the 2024 model. I found an article on the Ford Authority web site that detailed the changes to the 2024 Wildtrak and other models and, after reading it, I have to admit that i didn't realize the number of upgrades made to the Wildtrak model was substantial. As Ford Authority reported back in September 2022, the 2023 Ford Bronco Wildtrak gained FoMoCo’s new H.O.S.S. (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension) 3.0 as standard equipment, a feature that was formerly a $2,515 option. This upgrade includes Fox 2.5-inch internal bypass dampers, the Ford Performance Severe-Duty upgraded steering rack from the Bronco Raptor, upgraded inner and outer tie rods, a rear stabilizer bar, and off-road competition-inspired spring rates. Now, the beefed up steering steering gear present in the H.O.S.S. 3.0 system is being included as standard equipment on 2024 Ford Bronco Badlands trimmed SUVs, as well as those equipped tithe optional Sasquatch Package, according to Bronco Nation.
“That is the same robust steering gear from H.O.S.S. 3.0,” Bronco Brand Manager Matt Winter confirmed in a recent interview. “We took feedback from customers, and now that’s included on the Badlands and Sasquatch vehicles. We want customers to feel confident out there on the trail and give just a little bit stronger, more robust experience so that you have a little bit more vehicle that you can use, and really put the Bronco through its paces as it’s meant to be and have a lot of fun with it out there on the trail.”
This move reportedly stems from customer feedback regarding concerns over tie rods breaking out on the trails, as well as Trail Turn Assist causing modified Broncos to suffer from broken axle welds. Ford later clarified that customers installing things like larger wheels and tires and other modifications on their Broncos should ensure that they’re upgrading every aspect of their suspension along with it – or if they don’t plan on doing so, it’s best to avoid using Trail Turn Assist.
In addition to this change, there are a handful of updates in store for the 2024 Ford Bronco, as the SUV’s build and price configurator is already live. That includes the fact that the Base trim has been dropped from the lineup, along with the keyless entry keypad. The 2024 Bronco is combining the High and Lux Packages, however, and now comes standard with the larger 12-inch infotainment screen, and the Bronco Raptor is gaining new graphics and painted fender flares as an option – though the 2024 Bronco, in general, is more expensive than the outgoing 2023 model.
