So...how is the windshield urethane recall process supposed to work?

I got the notice for the windshield urethane recall. I made an appointment online with the dealership that I bought the Bronco from, no problem. I need a new windshield as well (because rock chips and now, cracks) - I know a new windshield isn't part of the the recall, but there's no sense in putting this cracked one back in - so I figured I'd better call the dealer service department and see if they actually had a windshield in stock (which I doubted).

Turns out that No, they don't "do" windshields there at the dealership.

OK, but it's a recall for the windshield urethane, which means the windshield has to come out, the old urethane has to be removed, the area cleaned and prepped, new urethane applied, the windshield re-installed, then the safety equipment sensors have to be recalibrated...which is all stuff a glass shop can do - but, since it's a factory recall, how is the payment going to be handled?

Do I need to make (another) appointment, this time with a glass shop, have them do the work, but bill Ford? Pay for it out of pocket and get reimbursed? Get insurance involved?

In my case the dealer had to send it to a body shop that did window replacement. The dealer contracted with the body shop. The window was resealed with no cost to me, Ford covered the cost.

Can't speak for every dealer across the country obviously, but I know my local dealer in refers window and body work out to other companies in my local area. That subcontractor was used for the windows on the MIC 2.0 top replacements, and I assume they will be (or are) used on the urethane recall as well.
