Hi Everyone,

At 29K miles I got a rock split flat the other day. It seems my tires are getting pretty beaten up. I will need to replace the remaining four soon. I am getting a new tire tomorrow which I will keep as a dedicated spare until I replace the other four and then back to a five tire rotation. They are starting to look at bit worse for wear. How's yours going?

Hey Adam are those the Goodyear tires or BFG’s?

BFG KO2. KO3 are coming out in 37's 2026. They have some nice upgrades. There are a BFG D rated but I heard they are getting discontinued. I don't want to stiffen the sidewalls too much but the D rated sound pretty good. It seems when I replace the four remaining I will just get the KO2's again and wait for the KO3's. We shall see. I think the KO3s are still C rated. Not sure I haven't checked. Just heard they are good on wet and snow and such.

I will replace these sometime after KOH and before Moab.

WOW - That tread's surprising warn - Almost down to ~3/32s depth, rounded edges, cuts, chips. Nearly warn out at under 30k miles on a 50k warranty tire. BFG says K03's built tougher for today's heavier, higher torque/HP vehicles. BFG mentions new compound & bigger more supported tread blocks to reduce chipping. Also, tighter center tread blocks putting more rubber on the road.

Am sure load range C rides good, but you may want'a consider something more robust.

Cheers

I don't have a picture, but mine is heading to an alignment shop in a couple weeks to get redone.
I'm getting heavier wear on the inside half of the front tires & all 5 tires are getting replaced as soon as the alignment is done.
I'm in a rural area & there's only 1 shop I trust with the alignment, so it was a 2 week wait to get scheduled.
But then I'm putting on Falken Wildpeak A/T4W s in 315/70/R17 to replace my OEM Goodyears.

Great thanks. I will check this out now. I've seen that with motorcycle tyres. Michelin Pilot tires when first designed for the BMW K1600 wore our real quick. 160 HP and 129 lbs. of torque. Great bike. The next generation of the Pilots addressed that issue.

Yeah I may look for the D rated BFGs if they are available when I change the remaining four. For now I have the KO2 being put on tomorrow. I will just have to bit the bullet and get five new tires if I go that direction.

I tend to be really hard on all tires. Bikes, cars and off road. I even take time to break the tire in to help with the wear pattern. It doesn't seem to do much...ha

Gotta like AT4W's milage warranty at a little better price too! Which load range do ya like?

I thought long & hard about the E range 35", because I really like the idea of 35.1" diameter & having the extra sidewall protection. But ultimately I went with the C load for ride quality. Will still be a slight bump in size over the 33.7" Goodyear 35" tires lol.

More chewed on the side rather than the middle. Maybe because they are not doing a lot of high speed.

Yeah, less torque and they run their tires at 25psi on & off road too.

That makes sense. I am running full PSI 38 on all fast runs and 15 to 20 rock crawling. Some run these regularly at 35 PSI

I got 55K out of my first set of Goodyear Territory MT's, with enough tread left over to use one as a decent spare. Rotated every oil change (4-5K). Limited off road time and only on soft dirt.

Just looked at my tires again. Two are really chewed up out of the four. I was going to get a KO2 C rated for a spare to match the existing four tires but I've bit the bullet and getting five new KO2's 37" D rated. For the kind of fast off roading on real rough terrain they will hold up better. Also they should be fine for rock crawling and road.

It seems the D rated are better for heavy off roading. Of course everyone has an opinion on ratings (C, D or E) and different tire manufacturer's.

Got 41138 miles on these. OEMs. We do a 4 tire rotation every oil change and this last change the fronts were erring warn on the inside so we have an alignment and new tires for our next oil change. They go off road every day and we have done several trails. And with a few miles on them they don’t chunk rocks anymore.

After a couple plugs, 35k, and another flat over Christmas, finally justified replacing the stock KO2s despite tread still being relatively okay. Those stock tires wore really well for me.

Wanted slightly larger without wheel spacers on the optional Badlands rim (non-sas). I'm a 10 year KO2 fan for MD/PA trail hunting/fishing so I've been eyeing the new KO3s.

KO3s in 285/75/17 being mounted tomorrow. E load is only available load rating in that size. I've read 8 million threads about load rating and have no idea if I will regret the decision.

Mid-Atlantic snow storm on Monday (allegedly), so maybe I can actually test the KO3s out.

It will be interesting to hear how you like the E load. Lots of people run them. Firmer for sure but strong as hell.
