And trade it in when my Big Bronco comes (2022/2023)..?! Do we think they will hold any residual value since supposedly Bronco isn’t making anymore until 2022? My other option is a Wrangler but will cost me 20k more!

Good morning!! I just got my Bronco Sport Big Bend! I love this thing!! Traded my 2017 RAM in because of the fantastic deal and price that they put on my truck. Now is the time to do something if you're thinking about it. I guess because of the. chip shortage.

Used car values are up thanks to the chip shortage making new cars scarce.

I'm assuming your current vehicle is either non-existent or about to die... but at this point it just seems like way to much trouble and risk of money loss for something you should HOPEFULLY be able to buy next year.

Just my 2 cents... I'm trying to be optimistic, but at this point who fricken knows when the real bronco will be ready.

Not sure how much hit you'll take on the trade in on the sport, will be more demand for the big Bronco. I'm currently debating placing a new order for a Base MT 4D soft top, and trade in if they ever build my 7/14 res BL 2D 2.7 Squatch.

I bet if you add the automatic transmission you will be able to sell it for what you bought it for if not more, when your actual order comes in. I only say the AT because everyone can drive an auto. MT will limit that. Full disclosure, I am getting a MT badlands but I am keeping it for at least 12 years.

When I went to see my dealer today he told me I may still get in for a 2021 build bc I kept mine pretty basic. BD with 2.7 auto, MIC & tow pkg .
He said there may be an issue with not only the MIC tops but also the roof rails (which I can definitely wait on an AM set).. but can’t compromise on the HT due to needing windshield washer bc of salt air living on the water in FL my poor cars always look filthy & I ordered AMB!
And I just made my reservation on 5/27/21 !!

On the flip side, there will be MT devotees who absolutely want/need one and with supply being low.... may be desperate to get what they can.

I look at it this way, if the bills are paid, and no one is going hunger, get that baby. You know the risk as far as trade in value when your big boy arrives, and if you can deal with a possible drop in trade-in values make the deal. A man gotta do what a man gotta do.

Should I buy a Bronco Sport????
WHAT???? Wait a minute, I mean WHAT????
SNAP OUT OF IT BUDDY.....you absolutely should be!!!! You should be asking which Sport model to fill the urge until the Bronco is available. My Badlands Bronco has already been pushed to '22 so my wife and I bought a Badlands Sport. We are accessorizing it now....hehehe. We sold our Edge and now she has a Bronco Sport until mine Bronco is built. Yes, itch is still there but it helps and you'll love the Sport. You may even wait to see what new options are coming for the new Bronco's. Then you mentioned something about cough, cough, gag....I can't even say it, the other thing. Don't go there, you'll be sorry you did, just some advice!

Might as well, if it suits your needs and doesn’t harm you financially.

I’m taking a look at a 1990 FSB this weekend. If it checks out, I’m buying it and selling my current car (under a loan at the moment) to a buddy of mine. Yeah, it’ll be a gas hog like none other, especially with my current 100 mile commute and an upcoming trip across the US later this month. But it satisfies the Bronco itch for now, and it will (hopefully) be a reliable vehicle that I’m not making payments on. Plus I can hopefully get out of it what I put into it. Unlike most other cars, which will start tanking in value as soon as factories start cranking out vehicles at normal production volume. Everyone wants a classic, or an off-roadster.

It isn't a bad idea. You are basically horse trading. I don't think you will get hurt that bad in the deal(unless manufacturers rebates undercut you)I do think that the Bronco Sports are good looking for what they are. Which is 95% enough for the majority of folks out there. Having said that I think that certain vehicles are built to last quite a bit longer. How many 2nd generation Broncos are on the road? More than a handful. How many Bronco IIs do you see? Short term the sport looks like a cute, sporty little crossover thing. But we all know it is nothing like big brother.

Well the one I thought I had my eye on is sold
I have certain dealers here I won’t buy from. I’m still keeping the option open for the moment tho. Just can’t afford to take a bath on any car right now bc I have the cash to buy my big Bronco.. but it does seem they are selling really well around here and with the limited stock available I doubt I would lose much when trading it in for bid daddy.

I understand, but it's hard to keep waiting for your Bronco too. The Sport is doing very well even though it's a complete different breed. Good luck!

I would if you can buy a sport at msrp I would do it. They have been holding their value at the auctions and there have been a couple selling over mrsp at the auction. I would do it before it tanks

A gal I work with at a Ford dealership sent her Sport to auction and made 4000 over what she paid! Nutts!

We were able to purchase our Badlands through x-plan pricing. This was early on though, none of the four dealerships around us can even keep the Sport in stock.

I recently traded my 2017 MINI Countryman for a custom loaded 2021 Bronco Sport Badlands I ordered last July. I absolutely love it! However, as others have mentioned it is not a Bronco. We already have a Chevy Silverado 3500HD Dually for heavy work. The Bronco Sport is a lot of fun, gets good gas mileage and will go where no MINI can go. I’ve gone off roading in Maine with it and it handled everything I put it through. Each vehicle has its own appeal for the individual buyer. If your heart is set on the Big Bronco, the Sport might not be the right choice for you. I encourage you to test drive a Sport Badlands if you can hold of one first.

Pardon my nit picking in this reply.
Just perspectives

Chip shortage now.
Used car prices up.

Buying a new car today that has a chip and will be a very new car in the near future to trade during a low inventory issue era...may not be horrible as trade values have increased TREMENDOUSLY
Vs
The probability of Hope of a new vehicle later...while still a mystery...

Isnt that the old saying
Bird in the hand beats two in the bush?

Buying something now off the lot, at least in our area, has about a $5,000 Mark up.... but they're hardly any Bronco Sports anywhere. Atleast your current trade value could help compensate greatly. Also
*Current ongoing low inventoryt might make a used Bronco Sport worth more in a couple years because there's just not going to be very many anywhere.

Final thought
What if you find out you really really like the Sport?!!! :)
AND you have your new Bronco arrive in '23...

That will be the next delema...
How to keep BOTH :unsure::cool:
