Should I Add the Sasquatch Package

Apologies if this is a question that gets asked alot, but I'm planning on using my Bronco for hiking and camping excursions and found it to be the best solution compared to other Make/Models. Because I'm not planning on using the vehicle for off roading it seemed at the time I made my order that the sasquatch package was not something I needed to add onto my base model. It seems to me that the Sasquatch model is designed more for off road enthusiasts than folks using the vehicle for other out door activities. I do worry from time to time that I'm limiting my Bronco too much by excluding it from my order.

With order conversions coming up my question to the community would be is this a correct assumption?

You nailed it!! Leave the squatch behind. Lots of money you won't need to spend, for equipment you won't be utilizing.

So there are three basic setups:

No Lockers

This is the standard setup on the Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks. This is really intended for people who are buying the Bronco more as a lifestyle vehicle or an everyday driver. They may go off pavement down to the lake, or camping, or to the trail head for their hiking. But everywhere they will be going has fairly well-maintained roads. Maybe a few roads that are a bit hairy, but nothing too extreme.

Rear Locker

This is the standard setup for Black Diamond, and optional on Big Bend, and Outer Banks. This is kind of the "all-around" setup for someone who does intend to use their vehicles heavily off-road, but aren't really off-road enthusiasts. They just want a capable vehicle that will get them most places they want to go for their outdoor adventures.

Front & Rear Locker

This is standard on Badlands, and all Sasquatch-equipped Broncos. Basically the off-road enthusiast setup you were describing in your post. For people who intend on rock crawling, driving on unmaintained roads, ripping around the desert, etc.

Well I would do it for looks then if you won't use all the features. I got a Wildtrak Hoss 3.0 and I won't be beating the crap out of it In the desert I just like the way it looks. Granted, I'll be doing some desert running.

This is exactly the thinking I used when I changed from base squatch to non squatch BD. For pretty much the same money I felt the bash plates and easy clean interior was the better choice for my intended use. However the 2door does look great with the 35’s….

Regular (Non Sasquatch) Bronco is perfectly capable for what you’ve listed (for your needs)
I like you am an outdoorsy person as well.

I think if I was in your position,
I would level up to the Black Diamond.
I can’t stand sweating in cloth seats and having the seat act as a sponge. Wet Gear / Muddy hiking boots etc…
It sounds to me that spending $ on a SAS package would be a waste. “In My Opinion “for your use.
The BD comes standard with a rear locker / wash out floors & Marine grade vinyl / Rock Sliders / Bash plates. Etc…
If you were on the fence about spending $ adding Sasquatch.
Spend it on an interior that will enhance YOUR use of your Bronco.

If you intend to start rock crawling
“Get the Sasquatch package”
Just know “Fundamental Skills” need to be learned in order to put true use to that equipment.

Well you can't go wrong really. We have the sas package, and I love it. I guess if you don't plan on. A lift and bigger tires, you don't need it. But it seemed like a no brainer to me to get it factory because I was gonna add a lift and tires anyway if I didn't. I do like the look of sas trucks better, but that's personal opinion.

Yeah, this build I personally think is the best "all-around" build for families, the common man/woman, weekend adventurers, etc.

A close second place goes to Black Diamond. The only reason why I personally rate it lower than Big Bend w/ rear locker is because it doesn't have access to a few options I think people would really want (such as Signature Lighting), and for a lot of people the bash plates and rock rails are just dead weight that serves little purpose other than decreasing their payload capacity and hurting their fuel economy.

But if you need those bash plates or rock rails, or really want the wash-out floors... Black Diamond is still an excellent buy.

A good rule of thumb is to only upgrade when the need arises. If you get stuck because your rig did not have a winch. Then buy a winch ... because you obviously have need of one. Next if your rig gets stuck because you do not have lockers ... then get lockers. Bigger tires ... yadda yadda yadda.

throwing money on features just because one day .... you MIGHT need them .... is just wasteful.

Think of it like backpacking. You wouldn't carry in 40lbs of extra gear because you might need some of it. Every piece of gear must have a use ... and be consistently used.

A true off roader performs upgrades after they break the stock stuff.

Which is going to happen.

These are very capable rigs (for someone just getting into wheeling) without any upgrades.

I don't live by any trails or big rocks. But I do hate potholes and bad streets so I find the bigger the tires the less the bump.

Plus I like Sasquatches. And swear I saw a Bigfoot in high school.

I like almost everything these guys are saying. My policy is, better to have it and not need it than get stuck and wish you had it. Add the Sasquatch option, take the “off rodeo”, you might like getting your rig a little muddy, rocky, gritty off road. But you will never know till you try. Then you can say you did. My other ride is a Squatch Bronco. When else do you get to say that?

I agree, but if you can, go to Off Rodeo BFORE you order the SAS. Like @BadlandsHotPepper22 said, you might find that you want to hit the trails with your Bronco after that. Also, if you plan on any overloading, I would recommend the SAS. I also disagree with the "after it breaks, THEN upgrade it" approach. Do what you're doing now, think about how you plan to use your Bronco, and then make sure you have what you need for that kind of wheeling. Sure, you're going to miss some things, and that's OK, add them later. If you do start hitting the trails with a group you'll be able to see different equipment in use and then make some decisions about upgrading your Bronco. I will say this, Base+SAS is one of the best "bangs for your buck" you can get in the Bronco world IMHO.

base sasquatch all the way. yeah, you may never go off-rodeo style, but you may find yourself traveling deeper then you expect with your adventures. having sas gives you more ability IF ever needed.
not to mention (in my case) the value of the pkg straight out the box with warranty was a no brainer for me, i also went 2.7, 4dr, with mod and aux. plus have added other touches and still under 53k.

I currently have a stock FJ Cruiser, and it has more than enough off road chops than I need. Though when ordering the Bronco when the banks open again, I will order it with the Sasquatch. It is overkill no doubt but you have these benefits...

1. It looks great!
2. Good deal for the modifications with factory warranty.
3. Resale
4. Chance favors the prepared mind

My order has the Sasquatch package and I'm regretting it now. With the price increases already and the unknown amount for 2023 it's already driving me out of my comfort budget. And that's with a 3% below invoice dealer. No guarantee yet on price protection. So if I drop Sasquatch to get back within budget I lose price protection anyway.

Full disclosure I didn't order the Sasquatch package for the full offroad capabilities. I'm a beach and trail runner. It was more for the looks and the added warranty for the included parts. At this point I'd rather keep the suspension stock and throw on some lightweight P-rated 285/70-17s and call it a day.
