Shock Recall Question

Just curious if anyone has been in for the shock recall yet? Ford's website seems to indicate that parts are available for this fix now. But the wording makes it seem like they are not going to replace them until they are showing signs of failure. Both of mine had already failed by the time they had the recall. One was replaced without issue under warranty. The second was like pulling teeth from a jellyfish and took 3 months to get them to authorize putting on a new shock since they had been recalled. This is what it says under Remedy:

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect the rear shocks for leaking or missing rear shock absorber reservoirs and repair or replace free of charge.

I was under the impression that, once they had the new ones in stock, they would be replacing them regardless of whether they have failed or not. But now, due to the wording, I'm not so sure. Ford is not good at this communication thing at all. I also just got a recall letter in the mail that seemed to imply that they were going to forgo the valve inspection test and just extend our warranty to 10 years/150K miles. But then on the Ford website, it lists it as a "Valve Inspection Test" that needs to be performed. So which is it? Or is it both? Who knows?

Hmmm, haven't heard anyone mention the Valve Inspection test. I really haven't looked over the recall notice since I went the aftermarket route a few months ago.

Here's a pretty lengthy discussion about the recall.

I have a related question about the shocks. My '23 Badlands non-sas shows no signs of corrosion at the reservoirs but there is an oily residue staining around that mounting point on all 4 shocks. This doesn't seem right to me. Does Ford do anything about that? It would seem that the shocks would be losing effectiveness if they are seeping any oil at all, but I'm certainly not a suspension expert by any means.

They would have to do the inspection first, but sounds like it would be a retrofit. As far as I know they are only doing the rears though
