Anyone tried something like this yet to slide the hard top onto for storage? I find many opinions on "top lift pro" and various ceiling mount winch options. But for my garage, this seems more practical (and cheaper). My issues with the top-lift cart are giving up valuable floor space in the garage, although at least it can be moved around. And I have enough overhead clearance for the lifts, but it wold be right in the middle of my garage when lifted. Sometimes I pull in other cars or have projects and feels like a liability to have the top just hanging out.
Using a shelf would not be a one-person task, but I think I can find another set of hands for top on / off days. These shelves are 4x8 feet, and my 2-door hard top is just over 4 feet from glass at the back to the front edge. Looks like the tailgate glass sits little lower than the lower edges of the top where it sits on the Bronco, so the glass tailgate end could overhang the front of the shelf to keep pressure off of it. As a bonus, it's cheaper (on sale currently at Lowe's, but similar shelves exist), and room left over for other junk storage.
Thoughts? Any reason I'm overlooking that this is a bad idea? Here's the one I'm looking at (2 pack of shelves):
