Hi all-I have had my 2023 4D Bronco for a couple weeks now. Love it so much. I live in a city that uses sodium chloride brine when it snows. Considering having the undercarriage rust proofed. Would love some input on this. Thanks.

We live in Florida and drive back and forth to Michigan. We just had our Bronco done at Ziebart. We have used them before and have never had a problem. We also had our windshield coated, while driving back from Michigan we hit a horrendous thunderstorm but our windshield stayed clear. At first we couldn't figure it out. Even though it was raining so hard we were able to see on the expressway. Our windshield wipers seem to wipe the windshield clean. It was the coating they put on the windshield, we also put a coating on the whole vehicle. We take it back once a year for maintenance.

ZIEBART!!!

I also use Rain-X on the windshield. As mentioned above the rain runs off. There have been times in a hard rain I haven't used my wipers. It works so well the isn't enough water on the windshield and your wipers will chatter. They also make an anti freeze, with Rain-X washer solvent. It helps in between applications. Make sure you tell your oil change business not to fill your washer fluid if you use the Rain-X solvent.

Don’t put a permanent coating type product on your car for rust prevention. Find a shop that applies Fluid Film. I’m in Northeast Ohio. I’ve used fluid film on my 22 Bronco last winter and reapplied for this winter. No hint of rust anywhere.

FF, Woolwax or Blaster. Even an oil spray is better than nothing.

I have used FF in the past but never again. It swells any rubber it contacts. Especially bad when you spray in the doors and it drips out the drains and onto the seals. Going with NHOU next time.

We have used Ziebart for years on our Jeeps without a problem while living in Michigan. We keep our vehicles for longer than 5 years so that's why we made sure we rustproofed them. Is there a reason you don't recommend it?

It must be maintained for the life of the vehicle. I've seen the results of failure to maintain. It begins to lose flexibility, peel off or lift in patches. That creates an opening for salt infused water to get trapped between the layer of lifted material and the steel.
Fluid Film is effective, and it also must be touched up/reapplied seasonally. However, it is also lanolin based. It is made from sheep's wool. It's environmentally friendly and non toxic. Even after years of applications, it can be removed with a non toxic degreaser (think pressure washer and detergent). In my opinion, that makes the vehicle more appealing for resale to regions where road salt is not an issue.

Can use Fluid Film or Woolwax and tackle the job on your own. It's relatively simple and will save you some money.

I get it but we did maintain and will do the same with the Bronco.
