Roof rack on Sasquatch

When I ordered my Outer Banks with Sasquatch I was given the option of adding the roof rack. Because it was available I added it. I'm a little worried that this will delay the order, but this was not indicated in my dealer's ordering system. There were other options that were "grayed' out and not available. Should I keep the roof rack option or have the dealer get rid of it to play it safe, or keep it and keep my fingers crossed?

Does anyone know how to find this out from Ford?

It is if you keep the 2.3. I'm just trying to figure out why the OP is worried about ordering the roof rack.

2.3 didn't let me build it with Rack and SAS just now.
But, yea never heard any issues with having the rack delay your order. Hell, since I got the 4dr SAS my dealer is just going to order it as an accessory and I'll install it.

Dang, was in a hurry and forgot to hit the squatch package. haha
Yep, you are right. I thought it was the 2.7 and 4D that killed the roof rack but it is actually the squatch and 4D.

Really strange that the system even let him pick the rack as an option. I think that is what he is concerned about.

Hmmm, that is really strange. If it were me, I would call the dealership and have it removed. I would hate if it messed up your order. Better to be safe than sorry.

I think I'll have them take it off. It's definitely not worth a delay and I'm not sacrificing the sasquatch.

Just have them remove it and then once it's being delivered have the dealer order them for you. That's what mine is doing since you cant have 4dr and SAS

During the ongoing King of the Hammers event, several potential Bronco buyers had an opportunity to participate in a "Ride Along".

One of the participants asked questions pertaining to the Roof Rack on 4-door with SAS and summarized his findings in a report on the 6g forum.
The full report can be found via the link below.
My KOH Bronco ride Mega Feedback Report and new information gleaned | Bronco6G - 2021+ Ford Bronco Forum, News, Blog & Owners Community

A portion of the report is captured below as it pertains to the Roof Rack issue.
In a perfect world, we would have another Esteban Q&A to help understand the issue in greater detail. That would be nice. :)

The roof rack on sasquatch
I asked multiple people at the booth and It’s a center of gravity issue. Ford is redesigning the actual roof for 2022 with different bolt placement for the new roof rack. If you need a roof rack like me and want Sasquatch it’s a tough call: get a 2021 and hope to get one at the dealer this summer, or get a 2022MY. So it looks like the 22 roof rack won’t be compatible with the 21MY Bronco.
See edit below.

So the roof rack thing made a lot of noise. To clarify:
That's an important issue to me because I want Sasquatch but need a rack. I asked to every person I could the same question at the event: why no roof rack on the 21MY Sasquatch and what will be different in 2022.
One guy said it was a very sensitive topic at Ford and that he could not say anything. When I mentioned CG, he said well I can't say it but since you said it then yes. Also, the most knowledgeable guy told me that they do plan to change the way the rack connects to the roof in 22Y and that the bolt placement would be different.
Ford officially mentioned that there will be a "new roof rack platform for 22MY Sasquatch".
Nobody said for sure you can't put a 22 Rack on a 21 Bronco, that's why I said "it looks like it won't be compatible". If bolt placement is indeed different then it does not look compatible.
It's super frustrating to drop 50K in a car you don't know if you will have a rack available at the dealer in 21 and you don't know if your roof will be obsolete after 6 months.
I am sorry I could not get more info, I wish I had a clear answer on this.

This topic of a 4-door plus Sasquatch is a no go for ordering a factory roof rack is fascinating. What adds to the challenge is the various assumptions in circulation. The most recent assumption points toward a center of gravity issue. Clearly, assumptions can be inaccurate. The best-case scenario would be an independent reviewer report and/or crash test results. Sadly, those reports may not be coming until the Broncos start rolling off the assembly line in June/July.

As a potential buyer of a 2-door Bronco, I have only had a passing interest in this topic since my B&P allows for everything, including the roof rack. However, the center of gravity assumption got my attention since I do not see a significant difference in 2 versus 4 doors on that issue.

At this point in time, I am not in a rush to convert my order and will hope additional transparency will be forthcoming from Ford. Short of that, I will be leaning toward utilizing the status code of “99” to hold my place in line as I order an MY22. Of course, like deciding on an exterior color, that could change next week, Talk about the truck that ate my brain! :)

If you read about all the lawsuits and payouts by Ford relative to rollovers, it makes perfect sense. I can't remember if it's in the billions of dollars, but Ford has had to pay "victims" of rollovers for years and years. There is a fine line and they aren't prepared to cross it. I'd say it's prudent on their part. Then again, I've researched the issue more than some, so it might make more sense to me.

Interesting article, thank you for posting. I assume the electronic stability control was the solution at that time. Not sure what Ford is thinking now regarding the Bronco?
