Getting ready to take a flat head screwdriver to pry out all the rocks in the treads of the tires in the new WildTrak.
Does anyone have a better suggestion for getting all the rocks out of the treads?

LOL - Go FAST, turn frequently!! Yeah, known issue with GY Territories, as well as several other AT tire tread designs.

I feel your pain. First time I went down a gravel road it sounded like a case of firecrackers going off inside when I got back on asphalt and up to speed. Like @KCsBronco said, go FAST, but wear earplugs!

1. You can't
2. As stated below/above drive faster and they still don't come out.
3. Buy street tires if this is such an issue.
4. Mudflaps
5. Please stop with these threads. They are dirt/mud tires, they're going to grab rocks.
6. If you have enough time to pick rocks out of your tires, come to my house and wash my Bronco...thank you

I have seen reports these tread retained rocks can accumulate enough to drill into GY tire's carcass causing slow air leaks. Oh, tell all your friends - NEVER TAILGATE A BRONCO!!

If rocks can penetrate the belts in those tires, then they are some bad mfn rocks…. As stated above, I just press the skinny pedal to alleviate the build up….

Very true: they stick in the cleats and work their way up through the ply and puncture the tire. If you're driving gravel roads, be sure to bring a tire repair kit and have a compressor or a can of air to reinflate. This problem self-reduce after 10K miles or so. Or so I'm told.

God! Welcome to the Bronco world!

The absolute worst is when you are driving like 8 minutes later on the highway at 78 mph and you hear that damn shot gun shell go off under your drivers door and seat. Next, you think...

Crap! I don't wanna see that when I slide under the truck next time!

I will say, the factory Ford mud flaps work really well. The hard plastic ones

To get a better poke on my Squatch, I bought a set of base factory fender flares for 300 off eBay.

You can use the Ford factory mud flaps with them! The front are like 65 for the pair and are fitted to the contour of the flare. The also look great b/c they are nor mongo and flappy-floppy

Okay got the Gatorback mud flaps coming.
Now is the OEM hoop steps the one from Ford Accessories?

But this isn't a Bronco issue, this is a tire issue. Put the same tires on a Jeep and the problem goes away?? I don't think so!!

Don't know, I ordered them with the build. These are not rock rails. They will not hold the weight of the truck like the rock rails do.

Okay, I found the Ford hoop steps but there is a bar that extends beyond the steps. Is that how yours is set up? Want to make sure the steps are compatible with the Gatorback flaps.

Okay got it figured out. The Hoop steps require a rock rail to be installed. The good news is Gatorback makes a mud flap with a slit in it to accommodate the rail.

The OEM hoop steps have their own rail. It is not a rock rail. It does not hold the weight of the truck. They work fine with the flaps. Make sure you tell them you have the Hoop steps. They will get you the correct part number.
The part number from SharpTruck were TH-GCN406F1-BK for front. TH-GCN406R-BK for the rear.

I changed to the Hoop Steps instead of the rock rail because the steps alone to put on the OEM rock rails cost more then the OEM hoop steps.

I found the GYs to be junk ruined a tire with in the first month of owning my Bronco not even what I'd call a bad road still in 2 high, they're only 6 ply tires. Bit the bullet and got 5 new 10 ply mud tires don't seem to have the problem of picking up the gravel with the bigger tread design

When I exit the trail I closely inspect my tire sidewall and tread for cuts/gashes before I start home. I've changed 2 tires with gashes on past vehicles after wheeling to avoid tire failure on the highway. I carry a small 90° angled screw driver to remove pebbles, rock chips from tread. I have the Badlands with BFG K02 and my these are rock collectors. I'm usually 100 mi. from home and having tire trouble really sucks.
