Removed Soft Top Rear Windows - not easy

Had Bronco 2 months, finally removed rear soft-top windows. Boy, what a pain that was. I checked the Bronco manual, very scant instructions. Then I watched a couple Bronco "how to" videos, where they show the all-important part of releasing the plastic tabs, which are hidden from view, in about 1.3 seconds. I rewound, watched 4-5 times, walked out to the truck in the garage, pulled and pushed and sweated breaking a tab or stitching. Came back inside, watched another video. Same thing - Spend 1 second showing the CRITICAL steps of getting the vertical fore and aft edges released on the two rear sides. Then spend 45 seconds showing you sliding it out of the track. Not helpful. Finally, with this guy's video, I got them off, and the top down all the way. Very cool driving it that way! Not cool doing it the first time.

I did it last week when it was 60 degrees in NY.
not a great experience. But easier than my jk. My wife said “what else did you do while you were out there?” Did it take that long?

I was worried myself since this is my first soft top vehicle ever but honestly it was pretty easy. Just take your time.

I especially resented the official instructions all warned that if you pulled them the wrong way, you could break tabs or tear seams....but then didn't really show you the RIGHT way.

Just spent almost 1 hour trying to get the rear side windows back on. They seem to have made them "stretch to fit" so the wrinkles are minimized. Then they shrink a little if wet. After I took them off I decided to wash them, hadn't even washed my new Bronco yet. 5 days later I need them back on for a trip. Stretching and grunting and praying I don't break off any of the plastic tabs that have to stretch further than their slots, so you can angle them in. Again, a feature to make the windows tight and smooth once installed. But I gotta say, this first time was pretty daunting.

5-6 mins to remove windows and fold top all the way back. 10-12 mins to put it all back…

Most important to remember. The first (when removing) and last( when installing) is the front fold. Release and fold back the top first, to release extra “stretch” when removing. And then fold forward and latch the top last when installing otherwise you’ll fight it the whole way going back on…

I had a bit of confusion the first time i put mine down too. Trying to be careful and not break a tab is always on my mind. Theres a video on BN that shows how to take down the top. They are thorough and its very easy if you follow thier direction. 37858.jpeg

Great video, thanks. I wonder how many times you can take the windows in and out before they tear. Does not seem like a durable design.

1st time I really payed attention to the soft top, seems like a crappy design and explains why blowing wind and elements get inside , Velcro is the only barrier unlike Jeep uses Velcro and a zipper. After watching this I’m glad 2 Doors only come with hard top.
