We have had our 2022 Outer Banks for a little over a year and both rear window defrost cables have come off. My 18 year old son drives it so I can’t be sure when it happened, but he seemed to have no knowledge of it either. Has anyone else had this happen? I’m guessing it should be covered and an easy fix?

Good news, bad news…

First, the good —> your 18 YO didn’t lie to you.

Now, the bad —> Unfortunately, it’s a pretty common failure.

But, more good news - it’s covered under warranty so it’s off to the dealership for ya…

Search on "bronco rear window defroster guard" and you'll find several aftermarket products to protect the connectors.

I purchased these soon after purchasing my Bronco and have not had any worries. The most vulnerable components of the rear window defroster are well-protected. The low-profile nature of the covers makes them barely visible.

Basically under warranty they replace the rear glass. It’s pretty easy to do

It's funny, because I bought these (below) online more as an impulse buy. I saw that the wires are exposed on the rear glass and thought it didn't cost much to be safe and to have a cleaner look. I guess that was a worthwhile investment.
