Looking to have a rear bumper with a winch (for my on order 24MY Black Diamond-non Squatch) and had some questions. Is such an aftermarket option worth the money? If so, what bumper/winch combo is recommended for light/moderate off road activity? Going a step further, I was looking at the Crawltek (?) bumper and winch mounting kit (any other mfgrs out there with a rear winch bumper?). I noticed that I had to ditch the exhaust from the axle back (the mounting plate fits in the area occupied by the muffler). What options are there for replacing/relocating what has to be removed? Custom bending? Flowmaster mufler under the body proper? No muffler at all? Thank you in advance!

Interesting idea, haven't seen rear mounted winch on Bronco, but see how that could work. Borla's cat-back exhaust removes muffler from rear area.

Cheers

Not sure on the bumper and winch. I did change the exhaust to Corsa, it puts the muffler in line. 20 minutes to install. Tucks the tailpipe up so it doesn't get crushed.

Have you considered one that attaches to a hitch?

I would suggest the hitch solution as well if you have no luck in your search for the rear winch bumper.
For years on my classic Bronco I used a receiver mount for front and rear. that allowed versatility with the one 9000 lb winch. I just use blocks and sheaves on my classic now if I need a rear tug.

I must agree with PSUTE above ….your best bet BY FAR is a hitch setup …..many reasons for this….first being you do not have to permanently attach the hitch….next reason being you KNOW the winch is attached securely and to a sound part of the vechicle

I would like to see one of the winch mfg. market a winch that can easily be moved from the front to the back. Slide into a 2 inch receiver. This would eliminate a large front bumper. I have a setup like that for my ATV. The rear mount also has a holder for 2-2.5 gas cans, or combos of one can and a small cooler. All of this is off the ATV racks. Any way.

Thank you for the Borla suggestion. So far the Crawl Tek is the only option that I have found. Looking through the internet (referenced from a differnt BN post), I located a picture of BDS`s custom Bronco Black Diamond Pick up truck, with the Crawl Trek bumper I screenshot the photo). Not sure of the mfgr of the winch.

That would mean a 2" receiver up front, sounds interesting, shouldn`t be too hard for a manufacturer to come up with. Modular electrical connections, like what is done with those snow plow installations would be the way to power it. Damn good idea!

Never knew such a thing existed for a full sized vehicle. I feel a bit slow for not knowing!

I don't have a winch, might one day, but this little beast is pretty stout, and a lot of F-150 owners I spoke too use this instead. More Power Puller from Wyeth Scott. Easy to store, can use it front, side, rear. It is a come-a-long on steroids!

I have thought of one of these, as a low budget alternative. Thank you!

I have thought about this option. Would also like a receiver in front.

I have never used Harbor Freight for any purchase, having heard about quality issues. Would I want to buy a mount from them? (SAVEUP, not dogging, truly appreciate the help, just starting fresh with my first new vehicle ever and wanted it to be as trouble free as possible! Thank you!)

I have made many purchases from HF. Top quality it is not, but I know a few people with the Badlands Winch. The mount is just metal. For something not used very often I would be okay with it.
It's an example of what's out there. I'm sure you can find higher quality if you look.

That HF mount would probably fail before your Bronco hitch & bumper did, and that is a good thing. I would rather the mount start bending before my frame . Perfectly straight line pulls are fine from a receiver but anything at an angle you better be careful. I did have a friend who used a rear hitch mount on his CJ back in the day. He made his own mount and it did fine , the thing was he would burn up the winch due to low voltage. That's a long run and you really need the correct guage wire . $$

Thank you! Good information to consider, never thought about the cabling.

I’m not finding a crawltek bumper that takes a winch. Can you provide a link?

APG has a rear winch mount plate and bumper.
https://automotiveperformancegroup....-rear-bumper-with-tire-carrier-winch-capable/

i don’t think there’s much magic in the bumper, so with some mods most any bumper should work with the APG winch mount. Here’s their winch plate with stock bumper.
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/apg-rear-mount-winch-plate-works-with-stock-bumper.80821/

Any muffler shop can relocate the exhaust with whatever exhaust components you want.

Unfortunately with the design of the Bronco (camera, acc and intercooler) there’s not much choice for a front winch unless you want a whale sticking out front.

I made my own front and rear bumper and used a 2" receiver mounted in the front with Molly tubing to strengthen it to the frame. Have my plate over the receiver in the front, and when off road, just slip it off. Did full wiring front to back so I can plug into the winch either way I need it. Works great, and still looks good.
