Rattle in front end

Around 5000 miles my Bronco started rattling under the front end of the vehicle. It’s metal on metal and only does it when hitting bumps. I can’t locate the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance!

I have not but sounds like it could be the aluminum bash plate may have come loose. Just a guess. Hopefully nothing major.

Bash plates are loose.

Sit in neutral and idle and slowly rev the motor, wondering if when you hit a certain RPM you hear the rattling.

Plates are likely loose form the factory.

Best luck!

Oh, no. For a moment I thought you said you had a prattle. I’ve detected that in my cabin on occasion, but only when there’s someone complaining about my driving technique. 🤓
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

Thanks Chief Ron. I actually climbed under and checked that. Both plates feel very secure however, when I bang on the second plate (second one in from the front) it is evident that the rattle is coming from behind this plate. I have scheduled service (oil change due anyway) for Wed to get to the bottom of this! Thanks again for the response.

We’ll good and bad news:

Good news, the rattle was due to a loose bolt on one of the bash plates, as suggested by a couple of you above. The plate was still firmly attached when I checked those but apparently the bolt was loose enough to allow a washer to rattle.

Bad news: while I was checking that out I noticed a few drops of some kind of fluid on my garage floor under the front end. I took my Bronc in for an oil change and had them check/eliminate the rattle and investigate the leak. When I took it in they had me go to the Quick Lane (oil changing service next door, apparently owned by Ford) but they could only locate the leak (front differential) but could not fix it! 😡 it had to go back to the Ford Service Center. More Bad News: the service center is experiencing a 7-10 day out scheduling delay! Even more Bad News, some new warranty dept rule does not allow you take the vehicle home until they do the work (something about being liable for the vehicle once they schedule)! 😡 😖
At least they gave me a rental car (good news) but I had to wait two days to get that (bad news).

So while all of you are out enjoying your Broncos the next week or so, I’ll be driving around in a Ford Edge that smells like smoke and Lysol.

Thanks for letting me rant. Hopefully the leak is nothing serious and not going to be a recurring problem. ✌️

Wow. My dealer isn't like that. It did take forever for them to do the manual rattle fix. They had it torn apart and realized they were missing a part

Great news, hopefully the fix is quick.

Well mine was a transmission replacement that had gone south.
I did get to enjoy a Ford Escape, Ford Edge and two Ford Bronco Sports over the 139 days.

I will say, the Ford Edge is not a bad vehicle, other than the smell. Doesn’t handle the boulders on the trails quite like the Bronco though! 😂 😂 😂

Thought I’d provide an update. My Bronco has been at the dealer for 10 days now. Nothing to do with the original topic (rattle) but for the leak. Turns out that the pinion seal was leaking and they are waiting for that part. I noticed on “that other forum” that there are quite a few people who had the same issue. Hopefully they get it fixed once and for all! I miss my Bronco!
