Rain without a top?

I’ve never owned a convertible of any type. I do have a 4dr with wash out floors coming eventually. My question is what if I go to work with my soft top down and a summer shower springs up? Sometimes here in Kansas they can be quite intense. If I don’t have any of the usb or 12 volt plugs open does anybody think that it would hurt anything?

In theory, the dash is sealed to survive rain.
In practice, if the interior was constantly subjected to water, I would bet that the electronics would eventually get damaged.

It'll be fine. Just put the soft top up when you get to work? The Bestop goes up and down in less than one minute, literally 15 seconds. That being said, I've driven a 1972 in a down pour, no big deal. I've done the same in a Wrangler, no big deal. Hopefully most of the switches are vertical " | " and not horizontal " --- " but either way, they should be fine.

Yeah, a little shower here and there shouldn't kill it, but in my DD Z4 convertible I usually put my top up at work to keep out the possible rain, and prevent UV damage to interior plastic. Not sure how real that threat is, just something I worry about. And the black leather seats are hotter than the surface of the sun after a few hours directly exposed to the Alabama sun. If I ever get my Bronco, I plan on leaving the top off most of the year and just running a bimini to give shade and block most of the rain. But, I also have other vehicles to drive when the forecast is violent storms and leave a topless Bronco in the garage.

Thats what we would do in the CJ. Red lights sucked.

I would be careful with water around that tv screen.

Yeah I’m planning on paying attention to the forecast but every now and then a random shower pops up here in Kansas. I just want to lay the top down during the nice days of spring and fall. I also didn’t really know how it would do if a rogue garden hose was in there.

Yep, I routinely do that, just not an option when left unsupervised in a parking lot ;)
