Questions About Securicode and Pre Collision Assist

I have a couple of quick questions. The first is regarding Securicode. I bought used off the lot and mine came with a Securicode keypad. I forgot to ask for the code before I left and the tag with the default code does not appear to be in the vehicle anywhere. The dealership said they could get it, but I'd have to come back to get it retrieved via their scanner tool. I found a Ford produced video about obtaining the default code by the following procedure.

1.) Put key 1 in backup slot (located in the center console)
2.) Start vehicle
3.) Turn off vehicle
4.) Put second key in backup slot
5.) Start vehicle
6.) Default Securicode should display on screen for a couple of seconds.

But it doesn't. Is this procedure wrong for the Bronco? Is it not displaying anything because the default code has been overwritten? Something else that I'm not aware of?

Second...is there any way to test if pre-collision assist is working, short of running up on a stationary object too fast? I have not gotten one pre collision warning so far, in spite of being in several situations where someone crossed in front of me close enough that my wife's Subaru would already be screaming. I currently have it set to Normal, which I've seen some people say is too aggressive. Which makes me concerned that mine's not working. I guess I'll turn the sensitivity up to high today and see if that will trigger one. If not, I may need to get it in to get looked at.

Not sure if it applies to all vehicles but I happened to find a second copy of my code when I opened my interior fuse box. Panel under the steering wheel for my MY.

I found one in the same location and my Bronco did not even come with a key pad.

I have a 2020 F150 and the pre-collision had never popped until a situation about a month ago…. Scared the crap out of me but worked great…. Instrument screen flashed red and lots of noise to get my attention…. I would assume it‘s working, and that the vehicle tests such systems in the background and will throw a code if something is amiss…

securicodes are a hassle, but paying the dealer $100 bucks to run a scan is robbery… keep asking here… someone will help you figure it out…. Keypad was the one thing I wished I had that I messed up and didn’t order on OB1…

I don’t have an answer for the keypad. I have one and never use it!

For the pre-collision assist, I have only had mine go off once in the almost 3 months of owning. My Acadia went off all the time! Sometimes even caused by sunshine!

Here are the instructions and the back of my keycard for the keypad. Hopes this helps. Sounds like you have to get the factory code in order to change it.

That sounds like a good bumper sticker slogan.

Good to know! I will get out there this afternoon and have a look. I’ll report back with what I find, for the good of the group.

UPDATE: There is one there. However, it does not unlock the door when entered on the keypad. Nor does the Remove a Personal Code procedure that @EGBronc posted. Maybe it never officially got paired or something. I’ll have to bring it up the next time I’m at the dealership.

Another update: Pushing the 7/8 + 9/0 buttons together locks it. So it’s apparently paired. For a moment, I thought “Maybe the keypad only works to unlock if it was the source of the lock.”, but that is not the case. Still no dice on unlocking.

Like you stated, since it locks the doors it is paired. I saw other instances where the code does not work for the unit installed (1 Five 1 garage talked about it in a you tube). You will need assistance from the dealer

Re Pre collision assist. I found that it goes off in this situation pretty consistently. Be careful when testing. There is a road near me with a 40 mph speed limit. If I'm in a right lane, maybe two car lengths behind a vehicle that slows to turn right and I don't steer or apply brakes I get the warning on screen. If I'm turning to change lanes or apply brakes even slightly it seems it doesn't go off.

Yes. So annoying. If a car is turning or already turned completely out of my lane it loses it's mind as if they're still directly in front of me.

There is a adjustment for the sensitivity in the head unit, Mine was set to max from factory I have in set in middle now and it not to bad, still a little quick to go off. I find that if a car in front of you hits the breaks and you are not breaking it goes off even if your not going fast and the car is five to six lengths in front.
