So if your vehicle is built but on hold (assuming on chip hold) for several months, is Ford obligated to complete and ship these vehicles before they start building 2023 models? or your 2022 model could just sit there while they are pumping out 2023 models... It just does not make sense...

Nope, no obligation at all. I just saw that a few people just got their MY21 vehicles even though quite a few people have taken delivery of their MY22s.
I will say that I believe a lot of those waiting on chips should be moved out this month. Without production running, they should have parts available to finish them out.
Time will tell how many get finished.

There were MY21's sitting in the holding lots while they were building MY22's.

Even though MAP is shut down for the next few weeks, there are still MAP employees working during this shut down. You will see vehicles that are sitting on the storage lots awaiting parts, getting the parts they need during this period and will be shipped.

There will be a ton of 2022 Broncos completed and delivered after they start building 2023 models. It’s going to take a long time to install missing chips in Broncos scattered in various parking lots over 4 cities (Wayne, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights and Allen Park). A much slower process than the assembly line.

thank you for your reply... So there are people getting a brand new Bronco now that the delivered vehicle says its a 2021 model on the sticker? or if you are say bumped for two years your delivered vehicle will be a 2023 model?

You get the model year on your order. If they can’t get your Bronco on the assembly line before the end of the cycle they will make you place a new order for the next model year. That happened to most of us here now. We originally ordered 2021 models and were forced to reorder 2022 models in October of 2021.

Being forced into a 2022 model was good for some. The new Green color was first offered in 2022 and a lot of people wanted that. On the down side there were people like me that had their color choice discontinued. It worked out ok for me as I fell in love with the Hot Pepper Red. I also was able to get factory fog lights because they changed the bumper on ther Black Diamond from the modular as standard to the capable. That was a bonus for me. There should be new colores offered for 2023 and maybe some good changes.

yes.. Its first time for me buying a FORD... Typically I have bought German cars.. What the Germans do is that they make some options given on a year as a standard on the following year... So if for instance Adaptive cruise control is an option for 22, for 23 it comes as standard.... Not sure what Ford does if any...

This is a unique situation because we are talking about special orders. They do make minor changes from one year to the next but you’re not getting a different model year without a new order.
