Question about Bluetooth calls

I've never owned a convertible of any type. I was wondering about a. The placement of the speaker for Bluetooth handsfree calling. And b. The practicality of using it with the top down.

Has anyone owned a relatively new convertible and experienced whether or not the hands-free is even usable with the top down?

I've owned several convertibles and making hands-free calls can be tough.I usually have to dial while the vehicle is stopped and then speak loudly. The air flow isn't the worst of the noise...it is the tire noise and engines from other vehicles, etc.

Yep, just had a rental convertible last week and you're exactly right. It was a Mustang so not too much tire noise but obviously the Bronco is going to have a lot more. Plus the Bronco is not as aerodynamic, it's going to create a lot more wind noise. I'm sure current Jeep owners can attest to that.

Change your voicemail to "Hi, please leave a message, I'm having too much fun driving my Bronco with the top off."

The Bluetooth/plugin is coming from the speakers of the vehicle and the mic is normally near the rear view mirror Or near the center of the dash, etc. No bloothtooth is going to be great with the windows down, much less the top, but you should be able to communicate using it.

Ha! As a minister, I sort of need to be available 24/7, even in the zen of top-down driving.

Thanks all for the responses. I would be interested to see if Ford came up with any tech advancements to aid top-down Bluetooth comm. They've put so much r&d in everything else.

I personally have not used them but I would think the bluetooth earpieces might work pretty well although they may add wind noise to the conversation.
Take a look at this article. https://headphoneinbox.com/best-bluetooth-headset-convertible-cars/

I drive a Wrangler, on 35’s without carpet and drain plugs (cause the top leaks).

I have found that pulling over for important calls work wonders.

I also keep wired apple headphones at the ready, I can usually hear fine with those in, and can cup the mic and speak into my hand without issues.

I do not this that top left you are going to be able to have a productive conversation at any driving speed.

In most states, driving (being behind the wheel) with headphones on, IS illegal. Though you do have to be caught..Just an FYI

Also like to add that a coworker was picking up his phone that fell on the floorboard and at the red light, went to pick it up, checked to see if phone was ok, and got a ticket for using his phone. It was a $175 ticket (1st time). He's going to fight it.

Remember, you can bluetooth to earbuds...maybe that is an option?

As mentioned above, that's illegal. Plus, I'm not a fan of wearing earbuds while I drive. Seems dangerous.

Sounds like I'll pull over to take calls. No biggie. First-world problems I guess!
