Purchase Agreement - ADM

Given all the comments/concerns about ADM and protecting yourself from unscrupulous dealers, when can you get a signed purchase agreement from the dealer?

I’ve been told by my dealer that they cannot produce a purchase agreement until I have an order, VIN and window sticker. I’m curious to know if that is consistent with what others have experienced or if other folks have been able to secure a signed purchase agreement earlier than what my salesman has told me?

Thanks,

Let’s be realistic here. When you go to order… That IS when you can make a hard line price!

Thanks,
I received a purchase agreement the day I placed my order at my dealership January 28, 2021 - waaaay before ADM was even a consideration and paid MSRP when I picked it up September 29, 2021

A signed agreement protects both the buyer & seller. Good luck!

Quick question... Is a purchase agreement and a buyer's order the same thing?

Here is why I ask (well one is because I don't know). But, my bank could not close my loan until I produced a buyer's order to them. When I first asked my dealer for a buyer's order, they said similar to what has already been posted here... Can't produce a buyer's order until VIN and closer to delivery.

My thinking is, buyer's order and purchase agreement sound very similar. But to end my story, I purchased from Chapman Ford for the agreed upon price of 3% below invoice. And at no time did they try anything shady. So for me it all worked out, but like I stated, getting that buyers order wasn't possible until close to delivery.

For many dealerships, buyer’s order and purchase agreement are the same thing.

I guess if you want to get technical a buyer’s order lists everything about the vehicle including the agreed upon purchase price, taxes, fees, etc. but it does not include how the buyer will pay for the vehicle. A purchase agreement lists everything in the buyers agreement but also includes how the vehicle will be paid for, whether that is a financed or cash purchase. But at most dealerships I’ve dealt with they are used interchangeably.

Thanks,
Go to a different dealer, they are stringing you along. Koons Ford of Sterling produced a Purchase/Price agreement at time of order, and even wrote and signed that there WILL NOT be any additional markups or fees over MSRP. Go somewhere that wants your honest business!

I believe that your Dealership is doing exactly like @Jstump99 is telling you, they are stringing you along. The reason why they want you to get a VIN because at that point if you were to cancel your order the Dealership still gets that vehicle, however if you canceled your order with only having an Order in with that Dealership, they will have to cancel and they get nothing....
You need to go to that Dealership and ask (maybe even demand) that you want a Signed Purchase Agreement or you will go somewhere else once you cancel your order. Then see what they have to say, if they give you all kinds of excuses, tell them your a Member on Bronco Nation and they told me exactly what to do, say to them "your not going to like it when they're done with you" that will get them thinking.
I know for a fact that you can get a Signed Purchase Agreement when you are done ordering your Bronco.
Good Luck to you!

@ABFish

Tell them to give me a call, and I will lay down the law if you need!! Happy to help! :) Seriously tho, go in and demand a SIGNED purchase agreement, including price tax and fees, and a WRITTEN and SIGNED statement declaring no additional markup. Seriously tho if you want me to call them and lay it down... I will, DM ME ;)

Did you ever get an E-Mail from Ford yet saying "Order Confirmed?" I have seen where this can take just a day or two up to a month or two.
