“Effective immediately, The Rivian R1T's price is increasing "approximately 17%" which will increase the base cost from $67,500 to approximately $78,975. The R1S will see a whopping price increase of "approximately 20%" bringing the new base price from $70,000 to about $84,000.”

This applies to existing reservation holders too. It definitely could be worse!

It does look odd. I saw the truck version driving me next to me yesterday and the angles in the cab were very strange. It also isn’t very big for such an expensive pickup.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

Really? I think it looks pretty cool. *shrug*. to each his/her own, we all have different taste I guess. I think that the new EV Hummer, on the other hand, is ugly as sin.

I’m wondering how this will all play out as Ford and other established players ramp up production. The mile high stock prices of Rivian and Tesla seem to imply that some of the other big auto companies will be going out of business, but I don’t think they have any intention of doing that. I would guess that Tesla and Rivian stock will undergo a serious price correction in a year or two as their market share comes back down to earth with the “new” EV entrants like the Lightning and Jeep.

I thought so too until I really saw it up close at the light next to me.

I like it too, but to me, it just looks like an F150. However I think that's the point. You don't NEED to make it look space-aged just because it's electric.

Looks like cancelled orders and customer feedback can have an impact. Rivian is rolling the price increases back:

Wow I'm surprised honestly. They must of seen a huge amount of reservation cancelations.

Although I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Even if you ignore the whole argument around the reservation process and whether it is ethical for a business to raise prices after placing a reservation.... if the Bronco prices were 20% higher than they are today... it would blow out my budget and I would be forced to cancel (or get a lower trim).

There were a ton of people on Twitter who were expressing their frustration and cancelling orders, with some posting the proof. It was persistent, loud, and yet restrained, which is the right kind of outrage to get a company to change.
