I have a Powertank system on the way for my Badlands 2dr and am looking for some type of locking device that won't rattle around and/or bounce around causing it to hit the tank etc.. It's going to get wet, so something that wont rust out or get damaged by water is needed as well.

Why do I need a lock you ask? Well, I will roll with the top off pretty much all spring, summer and part of the fall.. I have a bikini top that will go on, and my Hardtop gets stored in a storage unit as my garage is far to small with no area for a hoist.

I need something to prevent easy and opportunistic theft. The Bronco will be garaged overnight so that is not an issue but I am worried about the times it is parked when I am out and about. I am retired and don't work so it's not going to be sitting anywhere for long periods of time during the day, everyday.

As it sits, after the stock install, all that prevents someone from snagging it is a quick disconnect lever. Reach in grab it and run off.. Some type of small lock through the quick disconnect eyelet would prevent this.

Yes I know a tiny lock is not going to prevent it's theft but it will slow someone down or maybe even prevent it's theft if they don't have what's needed in their pocket to get through the lock..

Thoughts?

I considered a tiny rubberized lock but figured I see if anyone else is running some type of lock that might be better. It's also going to get wet so something that wont rust out or seize up due to water would be great!

This is the eyehole where the lock would go:

Will you have nitrogen in this instead of air? How do these differ from an old scuba tank?

There is a beer and wine place near me that refills your own personal Co2 tanks (no swap, unless you want a swap) so It'll be Co2..

I ordered a crappy little Carabiner Clip combination lock from Amazon so I'll see how it works. I'll spray it with some rubberized paint. I was hoping someone would have a creative solution but it does not appear to be the case so I'll try this and see how it goes.

Maybe a little moleskin to dampen the rattle? I use that stuff all over the place. Just my $.02

Nice set up @raqball
When CO2 mixes with water it creates carbolic acid and for that reason, I was told to never use it for tire inflation (due to potential corrosion to rims).

As for lock rattles, adhesive felt tape or thin sheets of rubber should help quiet things down. Or, Master makes outdoor rated locks.

I've used Co2 cartridges on my bike tires to fix on the road flats for a decade or so. Never had any issue and my bike tires run at a very high 90 PSI..
