Picatinny Dash Mount

I know there are many threads. My primary use will be a GoPro. Will not have a phone on it. I'm looking for those that have purchased one and your pros and cons using it. I see some of them have more slots, like a molly rack, instead of a true picatinny rail. Also want one that I can install using the mount on the dash, not have to take the dash apart. Biggest question would you buy it again. Please list the mfg.

I don't have one, but when I get my Bronco, I'm going to go with the 67 Designs Bronco Base. Its not a picatinny rail. Just a slotted rail to hold ball mounts for arms or whatever you'd like to mount. And it mounts right to the top of the dash.

Just my 2 cents.

Buck Your Bronco. I mount a dash cam, radar detector, and a insta360 when I want to record a drive in 360. Small easy to install and is a regular picatinny rail.

I went the cheaper route and bought the Mabett rail off Amazon for $50.
It's been great so I'd buy it again.

I see some of the rails say you can't use them if you have the B&O Lux package radio & speakers. Mine has a speaker right in front of the mount. I this really an issue?

I have the Lux package, no issues with mine, edited to say I have buckyourbronco one.

Until I get more devices, my BYOD rail literally means "Bring Your ONE Device." 😜

For the moment, I only need to mount my GoPro. The factory hookup, along with an accessory mount, does the trick.

This is my minimalist approach. I'm leaning towards the AR SLAP Rail or the AR TAP Rail. It will be a while before I need their AR BAM Rail. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm a huge Archetype Racing fan. Until I pull the trigger, my minimalist mount will have to do.

I have the IAG dashboard rail. It’s only about 6in, however it’s not expensive and gets the job done. Very sturdy

I went the cheaper route and bought the Mabett rail off Amazon for $50.
It's been great so I'd buy it again.

I think I bought the same thing and my husband said holes are not lining up, so he has to drill new ones (which I trust him for that), but it doesn't come with a phone holder. I can't find one from Mabett. Will other brands work?
Also, I got it without ball mount. 😥
I'm not at all mechanical. But, geeze, I'm over my head with something that seemed fairly easy.

I ordered these SmallRig swivel ball mounts from Amazon and have had good service from them on a couple of other projects.

I did not look at phone mounts since I do not plan on mounting my phone on the rail but most should work, you just have to adapt correctly to the ball mount.
Perhaps something like this would work for you.

Thank you! I'm getting ready to go "mess" with it. Doing a trail ride tomorrow that is on the Bronco Trail app. So I thought it would be good to mount my phone for videos.

They have quality products imo. I wish I would have sucked it up and got that. I did get the Mabett put together.

Good , it should work out well for you .
I forgot to mention that the only thing I had to do was cut a pc of mounting tape to match and place on top of what was already on the bottom of the end pcs. My rail barely wanted to touch the dash at the end and it needed some better quality tape to stick well. I probably could have tweaked the rail slightly and made it touch better but I had the good tape handy and went that route.

I always keep some of this 3M grey tape with red liner around for the tough jobs. It is far stronger than the black tape most companies put on their products and what you will find at Home Depot etc.

Good , it should work out well for you .
I forgot to mention that the only thing I had to do was cut a pc of mounting tape to match and place on top of what was already on the bottom of the end pcs. My rail barely wanted to touch the dash at the end and it needed some better quality tape to stick well. I probably could have tweaked the rail slightly and made it touch better but I had the good tape handy and went that route.

I always keep some of this 3M grey tape with red liner around for the tough jobs. It is far stronger than the black tape most companies put on their products and what you will find at Home Depot etc.

If needed how does one remove said 3m tape?
