Hi all. I am getting the Base with 7-speed Manual. I have been watching lots of performance testing videos and it looks like the Sasquatch package is the ticket for rock crawling, and since mine will be a MY22 I believe I have the option to go with the Sasquatch. But I do not expect to be doing any rock-crawling , just some basic gravel roads and trails. but........here in the mountains of Colorado I will for sure be dealing with snow! the snow "tests" I have seen so far show driving in 2" or so, which is NOTHING compared to what I may likely be driving in. my Subaru worms its way through a 12" dump and I'd like to be able to chew through 18" if possible. Does anyone know if the Sasquatch is better, or worse for such things, and if anyone has had any experience in deep snow?

I know with my Ram, got Yokohama Geolander's (Muds) and solid in everything BUT snow. If I don't go 4hi, it'll just struggle for traction, and even 4hi isn't fullproof on hills (parents driveway is a hill). If I had $$$ to spare, I'd get a set of snows for winter, so keep that in mind.

My dad had an early 70s F150 that with snow tires would go through deep snow. It wasn't a 4x4 either. I remember him going to work in snow so deep he was pushing it with the front of the truck. This was Northern Minnesota so no hills though. I'm guessing with the right tires there won't be many obstacles for even a base Bronco.

Colorado has many trails that SAS would be a definite too, hell even going to the Greys/Torrey's TH in a lower vehicle you'll hit bottom. But as you know great dups are rare these days in CO, but having SAS would definitely be a plus for sure when we do get those freak 12+ dumps. But also driving skills will get you farther then just adding SAS

Mud tires are not good in snow. The only gain you get by going Sasquatch is clearance. You get over 11 inches with 35's. According to Tire Rack, the Goodyear MT (Multi-Terrain or Maximum Traction - don't know which but not Mud Terrain) are well rated for snow but not icy packed snow. You might want to swap them out for a tire that is 3 peak winter rated, like a rated KO2.

Living in Kalamazoo, MI I did very well with a front wheel drive Toyota Camry...its surprizing what an experienced driver can do even with a front wheel drive. I think any 4WD Bronco will do fine.

Always comes down to tires. Driven fine with the best AS's in my old Mustang and gotten stuck with decent ones with my AWD Audi, and of course, knowing your limits and the vehicles limits as well.

Just keep a set of snows handy, you'll be thankful

Bridgestone Blizzak or Michelin Ice X are best ice/snow tires.

Appalachian snow runner build here. If a rear locker/limited slip was available on the base I would have not gone Squatch...

Driver ability means more than 4x4 ability. I lived in NW Pennsylvania with all that lake effect snow from Lake Erie. I used to watch the news reports out of Pittsburgh when they would get 2" of snow. What a mess! They, for the most part, didn't know how to drive in snow.

For deep snow I would opt for Sasquatch. The added clearance is the key, then get good snow tires as as already mentioned. That's my plan - I live in the mountains of Colorado too. In fact it's snowing again today!

Yup. but you get the fog lights and leather wrapped shift knob and steering wheel.
My goal is to order as close to how i want it. The Big Sasquatch tires aren't what I want, so Big Bend was the way I'm going, however, if you could order a la carte...

Just got my BB serial number and build date. That’s why I moved to BB, as well!
However the rear locker is not on my final order. ...But, Neither is LED lights and Hard Top!!

Ends up, My dealer took those things off my list to push the order to the front!

When talking snow, it's all about the tires. Too much credit is given to the SAS package, or I should say not enough credit is given to the base setup. I ordered a 2-door BD, 2.3L non-SAS because I wanted just a rear locker, better skid plates and an interior that was easy to clean, but if that wouldn't have been an option I would have ordered a Base. Subarus do great in the snow and have roughly the same ground clearance as the base/standard Bronco (unless you're driving an Impreza) but a Subaru's body sits lower and they're a little lighter, so the Bronco should do much better in deep snow.

The SAS package will sit you 3" higher and add the lockers but is it worth $7,000+ upgrade? In my opinion, heck no. Having said that, it's also my opinion that 90% of the people ordering the SAS package are doing it for the looks, not the function, and that's perfectly fine but the non-SAS Broncos are easily as capable in pretty much every situation outside of extreme rock crawling, deep mud and high-speed desert running. I'd be curious to know how many of those saying the SAS package is a must for off-roading have ever actually been off-road.

Here's a good video to watch about the importance of tires for snow:

On it's own Sasquatch won't make any difference in the snow. Tire selection and clearance are everything so a Squatch version will perform just the same as any Bronco with 35's and the same tire choice.
