Why pay it forward?

Today I received and replaced the Bronco Nation Grille Badge that was on my TigerMoth with one that @Deano Bronc repaired and painted for me..

The badge that Dean repaired and painted for me was gifted to me by our dear friend Steve, aka @Sven, who sadly passed away last month..

A few years ago, @Sven had gifted me this badge and I had it displayed on the front of my Bronco. It became very weathered and was in very bad shape. @Deano Bronc graciously offered to repair and repaint the badge in Hot Pepper Red for me..

Here is the repaired and painted badge in all it’s glory and with it proudly displayed on my TigerMoth camper:

After:

A little backstory on how I ended up getting a TigerMoth.. About a year and a half ago, @Sven asked me if I could take a bunch of photos of a Taxa TigerMoth camper while I was attending Overland Expo PNW because he was thinking about buying one. I had never heard of Taxa or the TigerMoth before that.

I found the Taxa vendor site and snapped a bunch of photos for him. I was impressed with the camper after seeing it in person and few weeks later, @Sven told me he had purchased one.

After seeing one in person and seeing his after he received it, I decided to purchase one as well. Hence the reason for putting the BN badge that he had gifted me on my TigerMoth..

Over the past year @Sven had been a great help with getting my TigerMoth set up and offered a ton of tips and tricks that he had done to his. To this day, I am using a lot of his recommendations in mine. Thanks buddy!

I do not think @Deano Bronc is opening a BN Grille Badge repair and painting service so please do not contact him to have one done for you..

My point of mentioning him is to give him credit for his selfless act of repairing and painting this for me, for FREE... He even paid to ship the badge back to me and he also sent me a super duper cool gift as well.. Thanks Dean!

The main reason I always give items away for free, with free shipping, here on BN is because of the selfless acts from people like @Deano Bronc and @Sven.. I'd also like to say that @OrangecrushBronco has also gifted me a few sweet items in the past..

When @Sven originally gifted me the badge he only asked that I pay it forward in some way..

Wonderful write up @raqball I never met Sven but from your words and so many others on this site he sounds like he was one awesome human being. Also that badge does look incredible!

This brings to mind @Bronco Yeti Man's Bronco bracelet, handsomely crafted man's bracelet that was awarded to a Ford employee for 30 years' service. @Bronco Yeti Man had it reconfigured by a jeweler to honor his Bronco.

Companies used to do that. My father had an assortment of tie clasps and lapel pins his career employer, General Foods (R.I.P.) gave him along his corporate journey.

So please put me in for the drawing. I esteem those with an artistic sense and skill to craft these things--so much more deserving than ducks!

Sadly, I never got to meet or get to know Steve, as he certainly sounds like the type of guy anyone would enjoy.

I might move it from the outside of the TigerMoth to the inside... That should keep it from getting beaten up... Since it was gifted to me by Sven, and with all the time and effort you put into repairing and repainting it, I'd like for it to last what's left of my lifetime...

Thanks again, it turned out much better than I had hoped for considering the condition that it was in when I sent to you..

I did this ^^^^

I put my white badge back on the outside of the TigerMoth and moved the Hot Pepper Red one that Sven gifted and that Deano repaired and painted on the inside. That should keep it pristine for years and years to come!

New winner on the respin is @BostonBadlands. PM me your shipping address and I'll get it on the way..

Apologies to @the poacher for having to respin but I put USA only in the giveaway because I do not want to deal with customs, tariffs, fees etc again.. Next giveaway I'll make sure to put that requirement in bold so it's not accidentally missed.

If anyone would like to file a complaint about the respin with my complaint department, they are currently closed as numerous lawsuits from past giveaways have caused a massive backlog... 😂 😲 😬

Seriously, apologies @the poacher, as I should have realized you weren't in the USA before the original spin...

As an offer of goodwill, I am willing to split the cost of tire deflators with you. Place an order through Amazon.ca and have it shipped to your home.

PM me the order total screenshot (block out your personal info) and your PayPal address.. I'll then send you half of the cost via PayPal as friends and family..

Oh, wow! 2nd time I win something in a month. A few weeks ago I won in the Massachusetts Lottery! Here's what happened - - Really! --But first, I want to inform you that I am strangely extrovert, and start conversations and jokes with people I don't know. Now--

I was in a store, and noticed a wastebasket with losing, scratched-off lotter scratch tickets, next to a vending machine that sold such tickets. I had just been at the service desk attending to a small matter, and had chatted with the guy there.

I took a handful of the scratched-off tickets and went back to the service desk guy. "If I find merchandise unsatisfactory," I asked, "Can I get a refund for that here?" (Note how I phrased it.)
"Why, yes," he said.

I produced the losing tickets. "I want a refund." (Note I did not ask for my money back.)
We had a little laugh over that. Then he said, "Let's see what you've got here."

"No," I objected. "These are losers from the waste basket."
"Except you never know," said the Service guy. He produced a little blade and started scraping off the ink covering the lottery code and scanning them on the Lottery reading machine. "Loser...nothing...loser...nothing..." and so on, until--"A winner--Five bucks!"

And indeed, it registered $5.00 (Five whole dollars--"5"!)!!

I said he should keep it, but he said that would be complicated, and gave me the money.

I consider this illicit, "sin" money. My church has a "Benevolent Fund" for people with needs. I put it in an envelope and marked it, "Malevolent Fund." The Pastor thought that was a hoot.

Thank you @raqball for being so considerate.
And for everybody else who entered--I do hope Fate smiles on you brightly next time around.
