Paint MIC?

So after ranting and bitching for a few days (even today) about the MIC top being forced on us FE owners, I have finally settled my attitude down. I have waited forever to just back out at this point.
Am I upset at FMC for this? Yes. They shouldn’t have told us that pay the most money on the highest trim one thing, and change their mind right before production.
But, it is what it is I guess. Maybe Ford will do something other than give us pass points. A trade in credit for a black top like promised would be nice.
So my question is this, can the MIC top be painted to match the bumpers and trim?
Maybe some kind of special coating or paint? I thought about lineX, but that would be too heavy.

Check out the Barrett Jackson auction and the MIC top is already the same as the fenders and from everything I have seen it's very close to the bumpers. I'll grab the photo off my phone in a few and post it below too.

Here’s a few from Barrett Jackson. The indoor lighting throws it off. But under the nature sunlight it looks great, IMO

this is the same FE from above, you can see the grain on the top. Consensus is that you can’t paint it. Probably better off just getting a Diesel Jeep Rubicon and settle for the inferior FCA build quality and electrical issues.

I really like LB. If that color would have been available on other trims I wouldn't have had such a hard time deciding on color. The MIC top in my opinion looks a lot better with this color than the black.

I agree. Those pictures from Scottsdale look good. It has been a quandary, I was going with Rapid Red and the Black MOD top, which matches the grill, and mirror caps, but did not match the fender flares or bumper, there was no perfect combination. So after the announcement I went back to LB with Navy Pier and the MIC top, I think it will be fine, and the MIC top will hold up better to scratching. And no need to polish it. Plus now I should get my FE the in the early production run.

Thank you to everyone that offered help.
The MIC does look better outside than I have seen in previous pics.
Might not be as bad as I thought it would look.
The pics of the preproductions looked super light.

I'd like to see the A51 overland rig next to a newer production Bronco . To me they all look like the tops haven't changed . Of course I was sold on the top when I saw the Overland rig , it was fine to me .

As a custom car/motorcycle painter I would suggest something along these lines to make the Mic top darker as the texture would not affect a dye like paint .

I’m going to see how dark it actually is when it comes in. There are people saying that the production top will be darker in person so we will see.
I went to the OKC auto show and seen the badlands in A51. It’s a great color! I was torn on it and the LB.

Supposedly the bumpers and flares are carbonized gray, so the top should at least be close. It just won't match the grille, mirrors, and Bronco badge.

Good to know! I had thought the fenders and bumpers were a Matt black.

The two Broncos I saw at the Tenn event were the same as Ford chin spoilers have always been . I call them black . The MIc top at that event was lighter and definitely grey .

The two Broncos I saw at the Tenn event were the same as Ford chin spoilers have always been . I call them black . The MIc top at that event was lighter and definitely grey .

The one at the Tenn event had the older, lighter version of the top. As for the bumpers, I noticed that aftermarket auto paint sellers have bumper, flare, and top touch-up paint listed as Carbonized Gray. That, of course, could be wrong.

Yeah people keep saying that but I've yet to see a side by side comparison or Ford officially confirming they have changed the shade . Lighting makes a big difference from one picture to another. I can live with the gray or darker black on the top but the flares I saw were definitely black. It would be odd to put gray flares on the Broncos . I would have to change those ASAP if that becomes the spec .

There was a photo in here of side by side on one of the threads of the older pre-production than the newer one, maybe was from KOH. There is definitely a difference in the 2

There are side by side pics on here... somewhere. The flares aren't changing color, they are the same as the ones you saw. All the trim should be very close to matching on the production Broncos.

On the Badlands, the top, flares, grille, bumpers, and base wheels should all be pretty damn close in color.
