I have an 22 Outer Banks with the standard tires and factory running boards. I can not find front mud flaps to fit due to the running boards extending into the front wheel well. Does anyone know of any mud flaps out there, where you don’t have to modify the flaps or running boards. Without mud flaps the side of the vehicle is a mess along with the running boards. Also the running boards are to close to the body and is cumbersome to use. It seems Ford did not think this one out.

Hi @Tedalan. Do you know if it is the same for both 2-door and 4-door OBXs?

We have an Outerbanks with the 'tube steps' running boards. I ordered a set of the Ford splash guards. To solve the problem with the fitment, I unbolted the running boards them moved them back just enough to fit the front flaps. I marked where the holes should be to reattach the bolts. I turned them upside down and cut new slots to fit the screw/bolt retainers with a Dremel and cutting wheel and drill. The factory fitment had six bolts. I was able to cut three on each board to refit the clips and reinstalled the boards. I attached through the other holes with a stainless self tapping screw. Still solid and the front flaps fit perfect. The running boards will sit back about 1-1/2"s. Sure helps keep gravel slush off our road from getting under the door handles and rocks from chipping the sides.
If only there was a way to protect the front edge of the hood. Bronco only has 2K on it and already has a big rock chip/dent in the front hood edge from a passing truck!

The Rekgen XL’s are perfect. Never heard another rock thrown ever again.

Note: Pictured are the regular length version. They weren’t long enough, so i had to then buy the XL’s (front only). Learn from my mistake.
