So, I did my "4 inchers" (speakers) front and back (didn't make that great of a difference) and I went next to do my kick panels. I found several posts that suggested 6.5, 2 way, mid-speakers, so since all the 4s were Kickers, I ordered a set of Kickers in 6.5 as well. So to get to the kick on the driver's side, you have to take apart a jigsaw puzzle of the side grab handle, the dead pedal, and two pieces of the inner door trim.
Once I got in there, and even with the seat all the way back it is a real squeeze, I found out quickly that a 6.5 will not work.
So... back through Amazon go the 6.5 and I now need to order a set of 6.75s. Some folks prob already know this but figured in my findings to share.
Lastly, unlike the other 4, 4 inch speakers, the driver's side kick speaker has between 6 and 8 wires going into the plug.
Since I didn't have the correct speakers, I didn't split the plug from the OEM speaker, but I assume you could trace the two speaker posts to the correct wires out easy enough on the plug once separated.
If anyone has replaced the 6 3/4 kicks, please tell me how it went, and is the other side (passenger) any easier? That driver's side was a pita!
I think what this thing really needs is a sub! I would bet the way those rear pod speakers actually sound more like tweeters... with a good sub or even an under-seat all in one sub, that system would cook!
I hate to admit it, but both our Kia Souls' systems wipe the Bronco's butt.
And they are stock Kias! Bad deal Ford. Even for a base! From what I understand the B@O system is pretty swell, however.
Wonder if you could place a sub where the factory B@O system is on the base Bronco.
Anyone pull apart the rear of a 2dr base to see if the sub-mount is there?
