New or Used?

I am struggling with this thought. If I am going to spend over $50K either way, I should just go order one to have it exactly like I want vs saving a grand or three to buy one that’s got 8K or so in mileage with a build that is kinda close to what I want. Right?

I mean jeez… $50+K is a lot for a car/truck/suv nowadays! I should be boujee and go get the exact features I want and quit hemming and hawing already.

Why put up with stuff you don't want.I could have had a four door auto trans bronco 2 years ago,but that's not what I want.
It's like going to a restaurant and ordering food you don't like.

up to you and your situation... $50k is cheap for a Bronco, most of them are well into the $60k+ range depending on options, and as sad as it is to say, $50k isn't a lot for a vehicle these days ... is it on the higher side of average? sure... but I wouldn't say it's a lot. Mine was definitely the most expensive vehicle I've ever purchased - double the cost of the previously most expensive vehicle I've ever purchased, so I get where you're coming from. If you can order one and get what you want, without paying ADM, and you're willing to wait - that might be your best option... but there are a lot of constraints on them right now, so you may not be able to order it exactly how you want. Might be good to make a reservation, and keep looking in case a used one pops up that suits your preferences.. problem is, a lot of people who are selling now, paid an ADM when they bought, and are trying to recoup some of their money.. so the used market is still on the high end. Just some food for thought :)

I bought mine used and it was almost exactly what I wanted. Had 800 miles on it and paid MSRP. I'm perfectly happy without what I thought I would put on mine had I ordered it, and I got it without all the pain and suffering of waiting. So one more thing to think about –– close enough may end up being perfect, depending on what you find for sale. Good luck on the decision!

This is from KBB:

"Average new car transactions remained steady month-over-month in February at $48,763. However, average transaction prices (ATP) were up 5.3%, or $2,466, compared with February 2022 and nearly 30% higher than the same month in 2020."

I guess it is all relative depending on your individual situation, but a dollar isn't worth as much as it used to be. Inflation is nipping at all of us. Unfortunately $50k isn't a ton of money anymore. :(

Tomorrow isn't guaranteed. If you can purchase a used one sooner, in good condition with low miles and fair price...go for it. Just make sure any/all recalls have been performed i.e. if built before October 2021 make sure the front driveshaft recall has been performed

Hey PatrickE26,
My suggestion would be to go new. Yes, you will have to wait for it, but you will get the Bronco exactly as you want it to be. The other disadvantage of going used is that you will more than likely pay the same amount if not more for a used Bronco, as per this article linked below.

+1 on that. (Except I got new) Although if I knew it would be $1200 in just parts to add the aux switches I may have hesitated. Glad I didn't though. That is a 3rd option find a new one at a lot without crazy ADM that has all your deal breakers. Put a bug in your area dealership's ears so if they have an order that falls through you are contacted before it's listed online.

Hmm I guess what is important to find out do you want the perfect Bronco or is it more important to make memories and have adventures. It is like my apple tree. I always wanted an apple tree but I hated that it would take a few year to get apples. If I had just planted the tree back then I would be swimming in apples now. If you are always waiting for a better Broncoyou May never get your Bronco. I am not suggesting you settle but just decide on the things you must have and go with that.

So what model (trim level) and options do you want? If you are looking for a 2-door w/ manual transmission, you'll have to wait until the 2024 model year ordering opens up*, so who knows for now, maybe late 2023 or early 2024? Then a year wait for Ford to manufacture your build. If you find a 2-door manual on the lot, then bring lube and prepare to bend over.

Looking for a 4-door soft top, there are such trims at most any large Ford dealership to buy off the lot at MSRP+. While most people complain the Bronco has too many configurations, IMO there isn't that many to make it too difficult. Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, OBX, Badlands, and Wildtrack. Outliers are Everglades and Heritage. Every trim choice is a compromise in some fashion. Then there are either two or three option packages based on trim level. Just look over one of the online car trader sites. I checked last weekend on Auto Trader, there was 11 pages of new Broncos just for the Big Bend model alone.

* at this point the MY '23 ordering window is closed, so your estimated time just to place an order is 8 to 10 months away, then build and delivery time wait.
Wildtrak 2-door is top of the list.

Maybe Badlands Sas 2-Dr V6/auto as option #2.

I want a green one but would take the yellow (aka orange).

FWIW, once the 24 refresh is announced, there will start to be a flood of used Broncos on the market. To get a new Bronco after that you’ll be competing with both new and existing Bronco owners. If you think you’re waiting now, next MY will be much worse.

Why do you think there’s no price protection going into 24? Or why they cut reservations short? Or why they’re controlling hard top / sasquatch builds? All arrows point to an earlier refresh, especially with Jeep moving in on them.
