Thank you Laura. I personally think it is a mistake to discourage all political discussions in a forum where the future of our hobby is heavily influenced by politics.
- Political discussion should be avoided and can be deleted without notice.
However, I completely agree that some members take things way too far and too personal. If you are open to suggestions, could the politics rule be expanded along these lines:
Forum Policy on Political Discussions
To maintain a respectful and focused community, all political discussions must be directly relevant to the automotive industry. Examples of acceptable topics include legislation, regulations, or policies affecting vehicles, transportation, or the automotive market.
We also ask members to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Respectful Conduct: Maintain a respectful tone in all discussions. Personal attacks, inflammatory language, political memes, or hostile behavior will not be tolerated.
- Stay On Topic: Ensure that political posts remain relevant to the automotive industry and do not derail or hijack other people's conversations or topics.
Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in posts being removed and, in repeated or severe cases, account suspension.
Thank you for contributing to a constructive and engaging community!
Our trails will always be affected by public policy, and we should be able to have respectful political discourse. I will, of course, follow whichever rules you decide.
