Hello all I have had my new bronco now for about 2500 miles and I have gotten so much great information on accessories, etc. from this site. Thank you! My next mission is to do the oil changes by myself since I’ve had issues in my previous raptor every time I’ve gone in they can’t even figure out how to remove the simple skid plate? I’ve looked at several videos and read tons of post regarding it, but just had a few questions.
1. Anyone doing this without raising the truck? My wild track Sasquatch came slightly lifted, but I can’t quite squeeze under the entire car, but I think I can do enough to get access to the back skid plate bolts and oil cap no problem.
2. Since I plan on doing this about every 2 to 3 months, does anyone know if there are any easy access bolts or connections that could go in the skid plate to make it a little easier since I’ll be doing it fairly often or just use the OEM‘s? I’m not doing any off-roading in it. Just strictly street so not worried about bashing the skid plate around much.

I bought the Ronin replacement plug along with another one from Amazon to try as well as the extra large catch pan, K&N filter and even a torque wrench although I’m sure I need it. Just hoping I have enough room to get under there and pull the original plug and put some cardboard to deflect the initial oil gosh into the catch pan and then should be good to go from there after I let it drain for half hour, prime, etc..

1st oil change on my 2022 WildTrak 4door .Only need to remove the back 2 bolts on skid plate and loosen the front 2-then slide it off.Did this with Bronco just sitting on my garage floor. Removed old filter first then just turned plastic drain plug enough to be able to start removing it and waited about 5 minutes while getting new filter out of box along with o rings. Was prepared for big mess after watching all the oil change videos.I used a 10 quart bucket instead of any of my drain pans because of the xtra height as it gets closer to the oil drain hole on the oil Pan.As I turned the yellow plastic plug I kept inward pressure on it + when I removed it made no mess at all on garage floor.Waited for oil to drain + replaced plug with a Ronin. Now when I do an oil change just slide a piece of 5/8"ID hose on the Ronin and drain into the bucket [ no mess or oil on anything under Bronco]. But I did install a Tranny skid plate as it has a plastic pan also + a fuel tank skid plate to protect plastic fuel tank. Was more concerned with running over something on the highway[maybe scrap lumber or some other road junk] than damage while wheeling at slow speeds.
When draining with the Ronin/hose connection I use a floor jack On the driver side front jack point To raise driver side a tad +get a little more old oil out as the Ronin has a small inside lip. With that lengthy explanation it has turned out to be the easiest +most mess free oil change I do on any of my other vehicles + Harley as with those I spend more time with oil dry + floor clean up than the actual oil change. Leaves me more time with my other Bronco + it's Handler!!!

Jossman gave very good advice. I will add:
Get a pick tool set and use this tool to get the small o-ring on and off of the end of the filter thingy. Go gentle re-threading the filter housing back into the top of the motor, and make sure there is oil on the threads.

The big o-rings come off and on easily. To put the small o-ring on, put one side into the groove, hold with your finger and gently use the pick tool to pull it down into the groove on the other side. Its better if the o-ring is warm/room temp. Only use Motorcraft filters especially while under factory warranty. I get them for around $13 bucks on Amazon:

Good luck last oil change I didn't spill even one drop!!

OP, here is my advice. As a 36-year owner of a several German-brand vehicles (over 1.1 million total miles driven*) that use a cartridge-style oil filter system similar to the oil filter used on the 2.7L EcoBoost, I strongly recommend using Ford's original equipment Motorcraft oil filter cartridge (insert) for your Bronco. The most important aspect of choosing the brand of oil filter cartridge is fitment. Using the Motorcraft oil filter cartridge ensures that the filter element will fit the oil filter housing correctly and thus perform correctly as the engineers intended. Motorcraft filters are no worse than aftermarket brands in properly and correctly filtering the engine oil. Just because K&N makes an oil filter for the 2.7 EcoBoost doesn't mean it performs better than the OE Ford filter.

Also, selecting Motorcraft oil as your oil of choice is not a bad thing. Motorcraft oil meets Ford's lubrication specifications and that is all that matters. Despite what the internet says, there is no conspiracy that the major auto manufacturers oil and filter products are substandard to the aftermarket brands. It is all just marketing. Sticking with the products that meet the original manufacturer's specifications is the best path to correctly maintaining your vehicle. There is no magic here, just adhere to the manufacturer's specifications.

*of the five (5) I've owned, the mileages reached were (are) 426,000 miles, 290,000 miles, 200,000 miles, 135,000 miles, and 123,000 miles.

I disagree. Motorcraft products are a “cash cow 🐄 “ for Ford, nothing more. Very expensive and proven to be no better and many times worse than top oil brands and their fillers. If they were that wonderful every manufacturer would recommend their products. Only Ford does. Funny thing.

People will do what people will do.

So, you'd expect GM to recommend using Motorcraft parts on a GM vehicle? Allllrrrighttty.

No, of course not, but they recommend Mobil 1…
Manufacturers like Bentley, Cadillac, Chevrolet (including Corvette), Honda (NSX models), McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan (GT-R models), and Porsche recommend or factory-fill Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil, particularly in their high-performance and luxury vehicles. Some manufacturers, such as Honda, Toyota, and Audi, also have specific Mobil 1 products recommended for their engines based on viscosity requirements.

I guess Ford’s engines are so specialized that they only recommend Motorcraft products.

Mobil 1 and K&N are the two biggest over-marketed products in the industry. They are paid endorsements. I'll guarantee you that if you watch your Pilot's oil get changed at a Honda dealership or your 4Runner at a Toyota dealer or your Blazer at a GM dealership, in every case the oil and filter products will be Honda, Toyota, and GM respectively.

My direct experience with the BMW I owned for 19 years and 426,000 miles shows me otherwise. Every drop of engine oil and every oil filter I used to maintain the engine were BMW products despite the "Castrol" embossed on the oil fill cap. In 2006 Castrol manufactured BMW oil, then around 2013 BMW switched to Penzoil and its natural gas-based oil product. The oil filter is made by MANN-HUMMEL, which is the parent company that manufactures Ford's Motorcraft oil filters. 426,000 miles with a lifetime OCI average of 12,300 miles using the manufacturer's branded oil and filter. The data stand for themselves.

I'll stand by my statements. I put my money where my mouth is. The three oil changes I've done on my Bronco have been with Motorcraft oil and filters bought at my local Ford dealership where I bought my Bronco. I have zero concern of an engine failure during the drivetrain warranty period or the long time afterwards I plan on keeping my Bronco.

I'll be happy to report back in the future on this Forum regardless of the outcome or results of using Motorcraft products to maintain my Bronco.

And in response to your comment regarding supercar/Corvette/Audi/Porsche blah blah blah...

And if you are going to give me some bull crap about cost. For my last oil change I bought my Motorcraft oil and filter at my local Ford dealer, 5W-30 full synthetic and a FL-910 filter. The oil was $9.32/qt and the filter was $10.89.

Advanced Auto sells 5W-30 Mobil 1 for $11.99/qt and a Mobil 1 (FL-910 equivalent) oil filter for $16.99.

So, talk about "cash cow"... LOL.

Pennzoil $5.30 per quart
Mobil 1 $4.99 per quart
I guess you’re Motorcraft at $9.32 per quart sounds like a good deal to you?

It is a good deal for me. I've never shopped at a Walmart and never will. Where I live, the Ford dealer is 14 miles away. Walmart is 40 miles away, which is extra hour 15 minutes drive time, round trip. Also, I can park 40 feet from the parts counter at my Ford dealer and be in and out in 5 minutes. Park at Walmart? LOL. And BTW, you are price-comparing a Mobil 1 5qt jug to a single-quart Motorcraft quantity, and regardless, the Mobil 1 you specified doesn't meet Ford oil spec WSS-M2C961-A1 for the 2.3L EcoBoost. If I were to have an engine failure during the warranty period, I have proof I bought the correct specification Ford Motorcraft engine oil and Motorcraft oil filter from the dealership from which I bought my Bronco.

Oh my. Walmart had FREE delivery on orders over $35.00.
I don’t understand your claim that Mobil 1 does not meet Ford’s specifications. Read the label.
When I answer a post I try to help people with factual information, not conjecture and “here say”. But if people want to spend their money on oil that costs almost twice as much just to have a Motorcraft name on it that’s certainly within their rights.👏

Not having a bottle of Mobil 1 to review, I checked Mobil's website and found the below regarding the oil and Ford's specs. Didn't read further down the spec sheet, so I missed it.

For personal reasons I don't shop at Walmart. People have the right to shop there, I just prefer not to. $20 a year is not going to break my budget and I try best as possible not to send UPS trucks all the way out to my home for 6 quarts of oil and a filter, its just a waste of resources.

I prefer to support local family owned businesses, such as the local Ford dealership. If my Bronco develops an issue, Walmart isn't going to do shit to help me resolve the problem, whereas the dealership who I have a customer relationship with will because they have trained staff who know the vehicle. $20 wisely spent in my view of things.

I gotta say this is the longest back and forth I have ever seen about motor oil! Reminds me of that old Coke or Pepsi argument.

Just because Wally World sells Mobil 1 cheaper than my dealer sells Motorcraft full synthetic (by $0.54 less in quart sizes) doesn't have any bearing on whether Mobil 1 is better or not as good as Motorcraft for meeting the lubrication requirements of the 2.3L EcoBoost in the Bronco.

Fifty-four cents. BFD.
