Never miss a software update!
  1. Set a recurring schedule: For more complex software updates, your vehicle cannot be driven during the installation (typically up to 1 hour). We recommend setting a recurring schedule for a time when your vehicle is not needed (like overnight).
  2. Confirm you have Automatic Updates ON: Most software updates happen in the background while you are driving as long as you have automatic updates toggled ON. This setting is ON by default but we ask that you check your settings screen to confirm.

Both actions can be completed from the settings screen in your vehicle. Click here for step by step instructions.

The click here link is for Sync4 & 4A, from what I’m seeing on the forum, most of us have Sync3

Also, this is for “over-the-air” update. Updates can also be downloaded to a stick and then uploaded from the stick to the vehicle. This is considerably faster than the over the air method

Here's how you can update Sync3 & Sync4 using a stick (flash drive)
https://help.ford.com/update-sync/usb/It is so much easier than over the air

Will this update fix my ongoing “lights come on by themselves after bronco has been parked for hours”

or my “door chimes ring as soon as I open the door to get in” (meaning vehicle is live) issues?

or my “headlights must be manually turned off sometimes” issues?

I doubt it, LOL

Go to the link below, there you can type in your VIN number and it will tell you if you're up to date or not

Even if your Bronco needs an update, I seriously doubt it's going to change any of those issues listed. Those are some serious gremlins

You can also pair your bronco with your wifi router in your house so while its parked in the garage it can automatically receive over the air updates while you sleep. Pretty cool

The main problem with over the air is your Bronco has to be on (accessory) and it wants to be paired to your phone. I’ve found that the car shuts off before the update is complete. I’ve dealt with this since 2019 when I bought my Ranger.
