Hey all, I'm scheming to snag a 2 door in the next few months as a 3rd vehicle for the wife and I, and I have full permission to get whatever I want lol. I know I want to go 2021-2023 2-door, with a manual and all the off road goodies (lockers, sway bar disconnect, trail turn assist (I think). Beyond that, I'm not too picky. HOWEVER. Where I'm torn is not knowing if I should go Sasquatch right from the jump, or a Badlands non-Sas. Likely not doing anything hardcore, will mostly be a forest road / OHV park / around town daily for me on nice days when I can have the roof and doors off. I daily a 2500 ZR2 around Nashville so something thats easier to park would be sick.

35's is the end goal, and from what I've gathered the Badlands with the 2.3 and manual trans has the same 4.7 final gear ratio that the sasquatch which is really all I think I would need to run 35s. If I'm not correct on either of those assumptions please steer me right.

In addition, I would probably go with coilovers (likely the Eibach 2" lift) just for a plesant driving experience, and because I cant leave well enough alone.

All that being said, is there a distinct advantage to tracking down a sasquatch if I'm going to go coilovers anyway? My biggest concern is the gearing, and if I'm mistaken about my 4.7 assumption on the manual badlands, I'll go sasquatch, but if the gears in the badlands are already good enough to run 35s, then I dont see the reason to jump to a sasquatch.

Any input from someone who is a bigger nerd than I am?

Hard Day?? Wuuuusahhhhhhhh

For me, my sales guy was quite insistent that I order a Sasquatch for the stance, and (his words) because the Sasquatch has a huge advantage when it comes to resale…

I have a four-door Sasquatch OB and thought I would do coil-overs, but have found the ride to be so good already I have just left it all alone… My mods tend to be in lighting and motorized running boards, and I leave the suspension and drivetrain to Ford’s engineers…

The manual transmission does not have trail turn assist. The Badlands is the only model with an automatic swaybar disconnect (the First Edition had it as well). If you are going to redo the suspension, you don't need the Sasquatch package. The Badlands has the 4.7 diff as standard equipment with the Dana 210 axle, same as the Sasquatch. If you want 35's get the 2.3L Ford Performance tune, which bumps HP by 30 to 330 and torque by 60 to 385.

Makes sense on the trail turn. I was trying to figure out how they would do that and assumed it was specific to the crawl gear, but I appreciate you clearing that up!

Seems like the badlands is the way to go. And I hadn’t heard of the performance tune but will absolutely look into that. Thanks for the information!

Sasquatch comes with the following:

  • Advanced 4x4 transfer case - Already standard on Badlands
  • Front/rear locker - Already standard on Badlands
  • 4.70 rear axle ratio - Standard on Badlands with the manual transmission
  • Wide fender flares - Readily from Ford Performance
  • 315/70R17 tires - Lots of options available aftermarket
  • 8.5 x 17 wheels - Also available from Ford Performance.

The fender flares are relatively economical to buy after the fact. But once you get to the wheels, the pricing of starts to favor just getting the Sasquatch package. SO... in my opinion... it boils down to if you are going to stick with the factory wheels or not. If you like them and want them, just get Sasquatch. If you have intentions on getting aftermarket wheels, skip it.

I have a 2022 manual Badlands without the Sasquatch package largely because I prefer the BFGoodrich KO2 tire that comes on the standard Badlands over the Goodyear Territory M/T that previously came with the Sasquatch package. But since you're looking at used Broncos you're likely to end up with used tires, so I wouldn't even factor that into the decision. It's all about the wheels.

I'd just order it from the start. You will have peace of mind of not needing to upgrade.

I think part of the wheels discussion is intent for use. The Sasquatch factory wheels are bead-lock capable, not bead-lock ready from the factory, which means the owner still needs to replace the beauty rings with real bead-lock rings if he wants to bead-lock the tires. So, if he wants real bead-lock wheels going non-Sas and buying really good aftermarket bead-lock ready wheels may be the better option. Couldn't agree more with the KO2s. Have them on my Hummer, they are great tires.

OP, I've attached some of the 2021 Bronco reveal information that Ford released at the time. It should be accurate for 2021 to 2023 models. 2024 was the year Ford started changing the content on the various trim levels.

I liked just buying it and using it with out messing with it. That's why I got Sasquatch on my badlands. Out of the box ready.

Your asking good questions if you're wanting to modify. Especially the gears. I believe there's some recalibrate required too.
And the 2 door is so maneuverable. That I really enjoy with it.

Quality info. Wheels would probably be the KO3 or the KM3.And then eventually I'd go beadgrips from Method because I really liked them on some other vehicles I've run. I swear by them. Way less complicated than a beadlock and I've had them down at 7 and 8psi with 0 issues at all. So not really attached to the stock Sas wheels. It sounds like the Badlands is the way to go for me. I appreciate the confirmation!

I have a tendency to buy things specifically to mess with them lol. Thats the whole point of the Bronco for me. Keeps me from messing with my reliable daily driver lol.

Coming from a 21 4d no-sas OB to a 23 2d badlands SAS. I love them both, but the badlands SAS I love more. The little differences in height and all, just makes it, especially as a daily drive. Wish I would have ordered it when I ordered the 21.

If sway bar disco is not a deal breaker than you can open your search a little. Badlands no squatch manual is how I would go my buddy just got a 2.3 badlands nosquatch auto and loves it so don’t discount the auto the trail turn assist is pretty cool if used properly. If you jump to the V6 auto you also get the one pedal driving that’s pretty cool for the rocks. If you can live without the sway bar disco then you can get any trim with Sasquatch. I really liked my Brothers Basesquatch with every option added. Good luck and keep us posted on what you end up with.
